Well... let me tell you first that I recently donwload a lots of Marvel comics, so I only have the most important issues.
So, up to Civil Wars, Tony had already took out the reactor, but after the Civil war and Dark Regien (when the skrull came to conquer the earth) Tony is blame for all that and becomes a fugitive, he then deleted his own mind to protect the secret identity of many other heroes; he was comatose for a few months, then Pepper with the help of Maria, Steve and others made a plan to wake up Tony and to do that they had to re-install the reactor in Tony's body. You can google it for more details, but that's is basically what happened.
I'm don't really know if Tony took it out again in the recents comics, but giving the fact that MCUTony is based on the Extremist issue, that happen before all the events above, I want to think that the is a slight chance that he has to install the reactor again for some reason ;D (I also hope MCUTony gets Extremist in A2 XD)

Me neither D: I really think the end of Iron Man 3 messes up his character in a way. Or at least it's not 'the' chacracter I fell in love with before... *sigh*

I agree. The Reactor is what made Tony, and it kinda threw a huge hole into the Iron Man plot...literally |D

I think that was the worst part of the movie, for me - along with all the armours exploding... sigh!
And I know he's healtier without it, but... yeah, I'll miss it, too!!!

I think everyone was disappointed that it was removed, the man is one with his creations, that's the whole point of his character, and destroying that part of him alongside with his suits for Pepper? Yeah, for you baby, I can stop being a fascinating man and become... normal! I GET the idea, I just happen to DISAGREE with it. A normal man is not what the avengers need, they need te man of iron, for Odin's sake!

the ending of iron man3 was just stupid, in my opinion. And the point of having the arc in the first place is that they couldn't get rid of that piece of shrapnel, but at the end of IM3, heir just like, oh yeah and by the way I was able to get rid of that so I don't need this anymore :/
i was kindly upset by that movie, but I love iron man (and pretty much everyone of rdj's roles) and always will!

I share your feel. It was such a pitty he did what he did ;.; (even though I understand his "whys"of wanting it out of his chest, but still, Tony Stark just doesnt feel right without it anymore UoU)
