Description
The two martial artists faced one another in the center of the sparring square. Their arms were stretched forward in the equal distance between them. The blonde mirrored the pinkette, and the pinkette copied the blonde. Two mirrors reflected against each other with feet spread evenly, a shared intensity between eyes locked. From paralleled stances, their hands raised slowly until the ridge of their knuckles tapped together.

Nikki's fist flashed towards Myriam's face. A resounding smack echoed through the dojo. At the end of her extended fist was Myriam's palm, catching Nikki's hand in her trembling grasp.

"You really are fast.~" The judoka gripped Nikki's fist and pulled her forward to try and grip Nikki's uniform. Just as her fingertips grasped the fabric, however, she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. Her head reeled back at the last moment, narrowly avoiding a hook to the side of her head.

As she reached her other hand forward, a foot slammed into the side of her knee, causing her to stumble forward. A row of knuckles clashed into her chin, clacking her perfect teeth together as her head rolled back. She regained her footing and locked eyes with the Canadian, only to see Nikki smiling back at her. “And you’re pretty slow, eh?”

Myriam broke away and retreated backward a few feet. Nikki chased her with a reverse heel kick that whiffed only an inch from her torso. She pivoted on her back foot and carried the momentum into a full circle, throwing a spinning back fist that grazed the top of Myriam’s head as the judoka ducked underneath. The pinkette dove forward and reached her hands for Nikki’s waist, only to grasp nothing but air as the action star leaped both feet from the floor. A kick met Myriam square in the face and sent her head spinning back.

Nikki’s bare feet touched the floor before letting a cool breath slip free from between her curled lips. Myraim’s ears caught a sly chuckle from the Canadian. "See that? Can't touch me. That's why it's called the Intercepting Fist." The Jeet Kune Do fighter cracked her knuckles and eased back into her stance.

“You ‘witnessing’ all of this, Ms. Magenta?” Oh, there was a line. She oughta take that one back to the writer’s room.

Nikki smiled, bouncing on the balls of her feet as if dancing on the spot. For the first time, Myriam’s genteel demeanor seemed to dissipate, her smile thinning into a straight line as she looked ahead at the Canadian Dragon. One could be forgiven for thinking that the beautiful martial artist had stalled under the pressure. Under the challenge. As if she were intimidated by Nikki.

Silly.

Myraim’s smile returned as she stood upright and widened her stance. Her leg slid around behind her, but rather than bringing her hands out in front of her, she curled them into fists. One tucked close to her shoulder, the other hung low at her side as she shifted her weight from one side to the other.

Gone was the grace and ease. That genteel demeanor that entered her gym only minutes ago.
The Myriam of now wouldn’t be found amiss on the pinup cover of an action movie that’d deck any of the dime-a-dozen cineplexes around this town. It was a decent imitation; a replica of the stance she hoped to perfect one day. “Very well. My turn.”

Color Nikki intrigued. Time to move. She inched her way into Myriam’s territory, making the most delicate of micromovements to enter striking range. Only a few more seconds and she would be there. Three seconds. Two seconds. One-and-a-half. One-and-a quarter. One.

SLAM!

Nikki’s eyes studied Myriam’s foot even as the firm bone mashed into the tender flesh of her cheek and rattled her jaw. She studied the arc, the trajectory, the subtle shift in her stance, and the position of the pinkette’s hands all in the span of a millisecond. The realization hit her like a thunderbolt: Under a Dying Sky. The movie. The climax. The last line of choreography. Her final attack. Her kick. “My…move?!”

Nikki’s face did not so much smash as it did splash against the sudden force of Myriam’s kick. The flesh of her face wobbled in one great wave as her skull shook on a pivot like a bobblehead. Both of her knees crossed together with hazel eyes drifting toward the ceiling. The world went horizontal around her as she collapsed to the floor in a heap. Myriam’s leg remained raised high in the air for a moment before she slowly eased it back along its familiar path to the ground.

“Ah, that was much harder to execute in practice. You are very impressive.” She smiled, raising a hand to wipe away the single bead of sweat left on her forehead. Myriam looked at Nikki's unconscious form with a small, knowing smile. Even with her boundless experience, the judoka had underestimated the effectiveness of Jeet Kune Do. A growing, delighted flame nestled itself in her bosom. She knew at that moment that, over anyone else in the world, she was right to seek this woman out. “You taught me quite a bit. I am very grateful to you.”

Myriam stepped over the unconscious master at her feet and made her way to the door. She raised her hand and wiggled her fingers playfully over her shoulder, already occupying herself with daydreams of their next encounter. “Next time, I will keep my promise.”

And them's the breaks. Our proud Canuck will have to try harder than that. Hope you enjoyed seeing these two fierce ladies in action! I'm sure it won't be the last...
