This is a nice interpretation of Prof. Z, even though I've never seen Cars 2. I think that Mater's human form would have buck-teeth, and he'd wear a blue t-shirt that says "The south shall rise again!' he'd also wear blue or orange suspenders.

Oh, wow. Dat face. Instant recognition! Nice work. I loooove Cars and Cars 2. They’re definitely not my least favorite Pixar movies, and even if they were, they’d still be worth an 8 or 9 stars outta 10 from me, so it’d hardly be an insult. Anyway, Professor Z was definitely one of my favorite characters in the sequel. Once again, they had me fascinated by (and sympathizing with) the villains!
Yeah, man…the Germanness, the clever use of “hair,” the huge monocle, the whole demeanor…he IS pretty badass. Personally, I also pictured him as a gaunt little man like everybody else, lol-- since he is such a tiny and compact car, and nothing about him suggested “heavy” to me. Perhaps also because he reminds me of Peter Lorre and the lamp, too, and Lorre was a pretty little guy as well. But I appreciate seeing a variety of ideas regarding character humanizations, and this one’s reeeeally well-drawn and easily identifiable. The ‘classy’ outfit, pose, and flat expression are spot-on. I like. =]

(Oooh, thanks for all the comments to read. =] )
To be a brat, I'd hope his face would be recognizable, because that would be a failure on Pixar's part if it wasn't.. seeing as everything else was just an already existing car. XD The face is the only thing they really 'designed' on that character so it BETTER be good.
To NOT be a brat, yeah I love his face, those stoned looking eyes of uninterest.. they're boss. I've gotta ask now, what was your least favorite Pixar movie?
Well he's still little in my version as well, you just have no point of reference to tell that in this picture. I don't see any evidence why people would see him as gaunt though, can you explain? Yes he's a small car, but he's also a car shaped almost completely square.. making him look fat. Oo
Heh heh, yeah he reminds me of the Peter Lorre lamp too. XD
Thank you very much No1.

(Oh, no problemo! n__n Hope they were pleasurable reading material, hehe.)
Ha, yeah, I guess that is true...they didn't really change anything about the original cars themselves, other than designing faces for them and determining how they'd move and all. xD
Oh, yeah. Totes boss. L-B
Erm, my least favorite, lemme see...I usually rank Ratatouille and WALL-E as my last two. I guess WALL-E was the one I was least, like, obsessed with. But I hate to say it because it is such a great film, and as I said, it's like an 8.5 or 9/10 imo. Pixar has a way with hitting home run after home run. x3
Oh, okay.
I think...well I guess I can't speak for everybody else who thought of him as being skinny, but the square shape didn't look fat to me. ('Course, they're cars, and thus subject to individual interpretations--so without official humanized images from Pixar, there's no right or wrong.) Rather, the boxy design suggested angularity and boniness to me instead of a wide, rotund, portly sort of person. Like, there wouldn't be that much to him. But again, it's interesting to see the same character bring different ideas to different people's minds. :]
Oh, and you're very welcome. ^.^ I like that nickname, too...looks like #1. 8-D

(haha your comments always come in spurts. XD)
Exactly! Probably a pretty easy movie to design characters for to be honest. haha
Stoner boss..
Well haha.. I didn't ask you which movie you were least OBSESSED with.. are you saying there aren't any Pixar movies you outright dislike? I guess that's not too hard to believe. >>;
I guess we can probably both agree that sports cars are probably representative of built/buff characters. Other then that I guess the only cars that they kinda portray as overweight are like.. buses and vans.. Is it just me or did you at least imagine the lost couple (the two vans) from the first movie as being overweight? I guess Zundapp really is just up for debate.. he's just such a strange looking car. XD
Because it IS! You're #1 : 3

Heheh, I know! >.>
Yeah, it was probably one of their easier movies as far as character design, since the vehicle designers had pretty much already done it for them, and they didn’t have to adapt those too much!
Hehehe, mmm, well, yes—that is basically what my “least favorite Pixar movie” equates to: the one I’m “least obsessed with!” Because no, there are none that I dislike. I just attained different levels of fandom for each (tops being Nemo, Brave, Cars, Incredibles , Monsters, A Bug’s Life, & Toy Story. So, most of ‘em, yeah. XD) But with each new release, I always count on it being among my favorite new films of the year, and am never let down. Not yet, anyway. *knock on wood* I’m a bit concerned about how they’ll handle my favorite MI character in the prequel, and hope my high expectations aren’t disappointed.
Yeah, Zundapp is quite the unusual little car, indeed. I would say that sports cars would typically be used to represent athletic, tough, muscular, etc. types of people. The lost couple did strike me as a paunchy pair, yep. I guess maybe there is a certain amount of anthropomorphism that goes into even such pre-designed characters to adjust their appearances to vaguely suggest a certain type of person…guess it’s just the way they draw ‘em. ‘Cause like I said, everyone is up to personal interpretation. While buses and vans might make more obvious choices for someone who’s overweight/heavy, I wouldn’t picture them all that way (Fillmore, for instance.) And then somebody such as Mac strikes me as a tall, strong truck driver sort of guy…yeah, they all seem pretty well ‘anthropomorphised’ and representative of the general type of person they’re likely supposed to be similar to/evocative of.
Wheeeee, I’m Numbah One! Whooo! *waves giant foam finger* 8D

Completely wrong. Professor Z is Fegelien.
According to the Hitler Parody Universe, Fegelien messed with a antic-machine and ended up in the cars-world as a zundapp. He decided to use his antic abilities to gain money. After the arrest, he was transported back to war-torn Germany though he retains the power to change into Zundapp at will.
True story.

Your explanation for why he would be a large guy makes perfect sense, and you're right that he's usually depicted in humanized fan art as gaunt, probably because his car model is so tiny.
Love the details you included in his costume, like his monocle being attached to his tie with a Zundapp-logo clip, and the pocket watch, which matches the outdated eyewear. If "Professor" is an actual title and not something he attached to his name out of vanity, I could see him having a doctorate.
And agreed, the bad guys from this movie are quite intriguing, from their motives to their methods of revenge. That's kinda funny; I started a humanized drawing of Grem and Acer this weekend because I thought they'd look different than most of the stuff out there. I guess there's no one right way to decide what a vehicular character would look like as a human, but it's good to see different opinions -- it makes for far more interesting fan art.

I know you're a really big Cars 2 fan, I did do this drawing partly for you since I've never really drawn anything specifically aimed at your interests, and you've been SUCH an awesome friend here on DA. <: ]
I did a search again to make sure my opinion on other fanart wasn't outdated, luckily it's not. Another thing I noticed is that it seems like everyone seems to give him a full head of hair.. what the heck is with that? Isn't it obvious his mangled roof-rack is meant to look like a comb-over? Maybe people are sometimes afraid to draw a character that looks unappealing? Maybe that's it? I wonder if it's easier for me since I started off my drawing hobby drawing robots and monsters and stuff.. not really appealing looking things. XD I dunno though, I always thought his car model reinforced the overweight look, the car looks so round and pudgy itself and all. I was stuck for a second on what color to make his hair, then by luck I realized his roof-rack had rust on it, so I decided to give him going grey brown hair.
Haha thanks! I wasn't sure weather or not to give him a lab-coat or not, being his title is professor not doctor. Though I think lab coats can be pretty easily bought over the counter at particular places. He was in charge of creating the EMP gun right? With all that sensitive electronic work I'd assume he'd wear some kind of lab uniform. But I like your idea, how he might even wear it out of vanity haha. Having him wear a classy looking vest under his coat with a pocket-watch chain sticking out of the pocket was one of the first things I pictured him wearing, he kinda took me as someone who likes to hold himself as highly dignified and important, so I thought he'd wear something kinda classy.
It's a very practical form of revenge, one based on business, again a scheme you'd kind of expect to see in an adult rated action/bond movie. But I do still hold them as one of the more sympathetic villains in the Pixar movies. Considering that they're discriminated against almost in a racial way... I actually wouldn't feel that bad if they won. XD The rest of the Cars would should feel glad that after all the crab they give Lemons the Lemons didn't want to just kill everyone.
I really would love to see your humanization of Grem and Acer. I thought it'd be cool to have them in the scene in this picture, mostly to show Professor Z's small stature, but since I hadn't given any thought to what they'd look like human I figured putting them in at the last moment would degrade the picture rather then add to it.

Aww, well thank you very much, then! And yeah, sometimes you can have too much in one picture so it was probably best to focus on Zundapp alone in this one.
That might well be the case that some people are reluctant to draw unattractive characters, but there is some human!Zundapp art with the comb-over. Have you seen ~SmokerLongbottom 's take on him? Definitely no fear of drawing him unattractively there, which is why I love it so much. Your idea to give him graying-from-brunette hair is excellent. The best way to translate the rust I could come up with was to dress the characters in grubby and ripped clothing.

Ah! PERFECT! This is exactly how I would expect him to look humanized! I love how you were like, "wtf, why are all the other drawings for this character all skinny?" Excellent attention to detail! Why would you make something that is clearly pudgy underweight in the end anyway? I always thought Doctor Z looked like he was modeled after John Lasseter.
