Description Hmm... This one was unintentional.

Started out as the background for a very different idea I had. But the more I worked on it, the more screwed up it got, to the point where it didn't even closely resemble the picture I had in my head.

Figured that within this pic, the original concept was unsalvageable, so I didn't bother trying to go back to it. Just kept going with this as it was. I figure the end result isn't too bad, even though it's not at all what I originally had in mind.

So I'm posting this, and I'll hopefully be able to do the original idea I had some other day after a fresh new start. It just wasn't meant to be this time around.

Anyway, I know I've recently done a pic with foreground bushes and vines, and I don't usually like being so repetitive. But they seemed right here, so I'm leaving them in.

Start to finish in Photoshop, no refs. This took several hours, partly because I was trying to force it to be something it wasn't.

Edit: Moved this out from scraps to my regular gallery due to a print request.

If that was a real place. I would want to go and spend at lest 3 weeks there.

OFF COURSE. I agree with that. It would be like living in a dream world, I dont think there are many real places that can compare with that.

Yeah, that's true. And if there was a real place like that, you'll have to get a license to even see it.

Wow--you're an art machine lately! (or maybe it's because I haven't logged in much, so I'm getting a big dose of people I watch...maybe both?)

Great job with those trees. I have a picture I'm working on with trees but it's definitely not my forte'. >_<

OOoo this is lovely! I really like the little house at the top.
The only thing that stands out to me a little bit is the second mini waterfall, it seems a little, I don't know what the word would be, stiff? On the turn it's not quite as fluid as the one above it. But that's tiny compared to how awesome everything else is ^^

And oh, totally random but, do you go around gaia anymore?

Thanks, Neobakaneko.

Ah, Gaia! *guilt guilt guilt guilt* I keep meaning to PM Dri to let her know I can't mod there anymore. (Unless I've already been de-modded, which wouldn't surprise me at all.) I haven't been there in a very long time. I burned out a few months back, and some behind-the-scene stuff had me a bit peeved. I hope to go back someday, but I just don't have the desire at the moment.

Ohhhhh, I sees. I remember a while back there was a lot of drama going on with another artist that was here on DA.

'Cuz... I was totally gonna ask you a selfish favor XD You see, I'm holdin' a contest there, and I've seen you enter contests before, but I also know you're a busy person and I don't want to be one of those "ENTER MY CONTESTS PLOX!", but I thought you might be able to help spread the word? I'm givin' out a ridiculous amount of stuff (ridiculous compared to my small inventory) and only have about 35 entries, and I don't want to have to extend it again T_T;

It may be something unintended, but it's very lovely. The front foliage seems a bit off, but behind it is just lovely; I adore good painted landscapes.

This is a really nice shot. I am curious - what were you going to do though that turned into this instead?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hakubaikou In reply to Fairytwister [2008-10-05 21:27:14 +0000 UTC]

It was supposed to be a closer shot, not quite so wide. I wanted a more green palette. And I wanted this series of pagodas down the mountains at irregular intervals with a couple of narrow bridges spanning between the gorge. And at the bottom-most bridge, I was going to have a pavillion with people sitting there and a ribbon dancer dancing outside of it.

Fairytwister In reply to hakubaikou [2008-10-05 21:30:20 +0000 UTC]

ahhh, yeah - this is a big long shot. What about doing it in panoramic and not portrait view?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hakubaikou In reply to Fairytwister [2008-10-05 21:41:00 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, there's a thought.

The original picture in my head was actually even more vertically oriented than this one. Part of it was the motion of the ribbons. They were vertical.

I don't know. I swear, I'm going to be 90 by the time I can accurately capture the images in my head. ^_^

Fairytwister In reply to hakubaikou [2008-10-06 02:14:01 +0000 UTC]

you know, you might be able to work panoramically and then later go back and extend the picture up? It's more an issue of being able to work with the space you have in front of you, ...

How can this be a scrap?

It's so beautiful, even though you didn't intend it. I love how...private the little waterfall seems, how we're looking past bushes to see it, like we're trespassing onto something precious and secret.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hakubaikou In reply to synconi [2008-10-05 10:26:22 +0000 UTC]

Thanks very much, synconi. That's sweet of you to say.

I dunno, this doesn't feel quite like a scrap, but it doesn't feel like a polished piece either. It's somewhere inbetween. And when I'm not sure about pics, the scrap bin is the default place I put them.

Maybe I just need to walk away and not look at this for a while. Because right now, while I do like parts of it (or I wouldn't have posted it,) I can't get over the fact that the entire picture represents one big mistake. Heh!
