I spend about 5 months a year on St Kilda at the moment, doing field work on the St Kilda field mouse for my PhD. 2 years done, 1 to go!

You've just become my new hero. Not only do you live in three of the most fantastic locations in the UK, you're doing a PhD on a mouse that only exists on a couple of tiny islands miles away from anywhere (would love to hear the story behind why you choise it), and your photography is sublime. AWESOME.

Hah, cheers. The PhD was actually advertised, I was just lucky enough to get it. Seemed like a good way to spend loads of time in an awesomely remote place, and is a proper old fashioned natural history project. I'm not very good at offices...

Neither am I, and after spending so much of my life on planes and in hotels I think there's nothing better than old-fashioned country air and a good view. Though having a wonderful family, a loyal dog and a wee cottage does also have their upsides.
So where did you study for your Masters?
