Description

I decided to paint day 34 of my 365 day challenge. This is a Neteru Shabtis. Shabtis are the servants of the Egyptian gods and goddesses, as well as for the living humans of the underworld.

Each god has several servants. How many one has depends on numerous factors, one being the number of human worshipers a god/goddess has. The more popular deities can have up to 50. Most have 3 to 4. There duties vary. Some do simple cleaning while the higher profile servants act as assistants. They are paid by their deities in material offerings taken from their human worshippers. Gold items are particularly popular with them, and they have their own separate monetary system among them where they trade their goods. While they can communicate some with their deities, the servants had their own language that most of the deities cant understand. Sharing gossip is a part of their culture. The deities dont bother to hide their dirty laundry from them. The servants are expose to it all, and any kind of juicy gossip is quickly spread amongst them. They are the only ones who truly knows what goes on in the daily dealings of the Neteru.
