Whew, I'm happy to finish this on the last day of black history month!After the interestingly timed unveiling of Nefertiti where a largely fantasy based reconstruction( such science is very inaccurate because the skull can only reveal so much, so the nose, mouth, skin color and eyes are all completely made up) was made of her, I decided to make my own unveiling.
Drum row, dramatic music intensifies....
Here is Queen Nefertiti!

Gosh, she has that 'Oh really?' look on her face, obviously she ain't taking no crap from anyone, also I love that she is brown! I love this piece.

Well lets just say she isn't particularly happy about a certain portrayal.

Can't say I blame her. Unfortunately, shit like that is par for the course with these "reconstructions". People seem to think that The Mummy movies with Arnold Vosloo are documentaries when it comes to portraying the native Egyptians.

Unfortunately, there are so many pale-skinned portrayals of the Ancient Egyptians in Hollywood that it is sure to take several more decades of proof(genetic testing) and accurate media representation for most people to start accepting a native black Ancient Egypt. Until than, I will do my best to create more more artwork featuring Ancient Egyptians and how they really looked like.

Same here. I get sick of all the white/tan-washed portrayals in media too. It's even worse when people who ought to know better let those portrayals influence them and take umbrage when presented with more accurate depictions such as yours. It's as silly as people getting butthurt over accurate depictions of Velociraptors as feathered.

That is the only thing we can do. I hope the success of Black panther might make Hollywood go outside the box and portray a majority black Egypt.
As of now, we can reach a small percentage of the population with our art and possibly open a few minds.
