It's all done is ps, a mix of photo manipulation, brushing, layer masks and some other boring stuff.

ah, k,i see
as many ppl use renders for this purpose,too, or paint it with a wacom first an vectorize it afterwards.
i especially like the metal/plastic-look of it looks like rendered, very nice work
