nice photo but im not a fan of the major blowout area.

how are you exporting your image? 124kb seems a bit small and even without DA's width compression i can see the image is quite pixelated.

it doesnt compliment the high standard of photography you have.

Breathless! I like the colours and specially the lack of colours in the scene!
I definitely envy you at the moment!

The sky's really cool, the darkness and those wispy clouds. Makes me think the bridge's pillars are chimneys emanating some evil vapours. Great composition with those diagonals, and the dark edges (vignetting?) make it really moody.

Thanks for all the great comments mate!

Yep, the diagonals work quite well. And the vignetting... what can I say, I'm a vignette addict.

I really like the toned color in this shot and the perspective. Something about those two giant columns really sticks out (in a good way) to me.

Also, although this doesn't relate to the picture, I really like your website: it's got a great layout

Yep, seem to have confused a few people. This part of Melbourne Docklands is closed off to the public so it feels like an old abandoned city when you're down there. Like one of those movies when everyone gets wiped out by a virus or something.

Glad you like though!

wow, beautiful shot mate! Love how the vertical beams of the bridge gradate from light to dark.

Does Docklands go down that far? I've only got a few shots, but not that close (I've one in my gallery actually)

GVA In reply to dtownley1 [2008-03-04 03:30:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, Daniel! Yep, Waterfront City leads to old derelict warehouses and then to the bridge itself. Most of it's fenced off but you can still find ways to get in. There's an old railway that runs through there. Pretty cool place!

dtownley1 In reply to GVA [2008-03-04 14:30:28 +0000 UTC]

wow, a railway there? That's one of the last things I expected. I'll have to check it out when I get back to Aus.

Yep, an old deserted railway. Guess it used to run up towards Spencer St station. It's definitely work a look
