Description This is one of those projects I did just for the heck of it; I woke up the other night and couldn't sleep, so I doodled this out. I have to laugh because I'm so fussy about getting everything canon - I've come to the conclusion with these two that there is no such thing as canon with the colors. Patty wore a coral red dress for the first two seasons, and was from then on shown in a mauve dress; in the comic books she is usually shown in the coral red. I guess nearly anything you'd put on them would work.

The Simpsons are the property of Matt Groening.

So is that a giant wine bottle or are they their normal size?

Faved.

Drinks and cigarettes. Fun time, if only they had MacGyver as well.

It's hard to believe these two heifers could enjoy something as refined as a glass of wine.Β Β What's more, how could they possibly detect the subtleties of the wine's flavor or savor the bouquet with theirΒ senses of taste and smell destroyed by nicotine?Β  And one other thing, good buddy; did you have to put the misshapen, toe-jammed, fungus infested, yellow toenailed, disgusting feet of these repulsive moo-cows in open sandals for everyone to see?Β  Such a waste of nice Birkenstocks.Β  Apart from all that, this isΒ a good close to canon portrait of Homer Simpson's beastly sisters in-law.Β Β Β Β Β  Β

::laughs:: Well, I never said it was quality wine. Years ago when my brother in law was driving from Phoenix to Temecula to visit my brother, he told him that he expected a bottle of wine when he arrived; John had a bottle of Night Train waiting for him.

Even an "el cheapo" brand of wine like Night Train or even Mad Dog 20/20 would be too good for those two sow bears in female form.

::trying to compose myself after laughing so hard:: That's my girls you're talking about there. Besides, that kind of wine makes you feel real good, but then you get a terrible case of heartburn. What's the technical term, ah yes - "fortified wine." I don't know that terribly much about wine, but I try to stay away from anything with a screw cap. Also, I tend to stay away from anything under $3.

Regarding wine, I do the same as you; avoiding wine brands with screw-on caps and anything with the label "Thunderbird," "Night Train" and so on.Β  If the bottle isn't sealed with a cork, then I ain't drinking it. Β As far as I'm concerned, "fortified wine" is nothing more than rubbing alcohol mixed with grape juice.Β  And if I bugged you with my descriptions of Patty and Selma Bouvier, then I apologize, but I do sincerely find them repulsive and disgusting as cartoon characters not only for their cigarette smoking but also for their dismissive and overall snotty attitude towards others, not just Homer Simpson.Β  I've even thought about a cartoon having my Rhonda smashing their cigarettes into their faces when they refuse her request to put their cigs out.

::laughs:: Don't worry about it - I was kidding. Patty and Selma are the butt-monkeys of the show, along with their least favorite customer, Hans Moleman, who is constantly getting killed in horrible ways on the show. On Futurama it's the ubiquitous Randy. And damn you're right about those cheap wines - that stuff, along with Olde English beer, is suitable for flushing out a car radiator, and not much more. And hell, you can add Budweiser to that list as far as I'm concerned.

Well, okay then.Β  I'm glad we got that little detail sorted out.Β  Personally, I would never use Olde English beer or any of these cheap brands of wine to flush out a car radiator; that stuff is more suited for stripping paint.Β  As for Patty and Selma being butt monkeys on the Simpsons shows, I only wish they'd suffer more physical punishment.Β  I recall, vaguely, one episode where Homer actually threw both sisters physically out of the front door of his house.Β  However, in his haste, he also threw his wife Marge out as well, although he quickly ran outside, picked her up and carried her back inside and apologized.Β  Hans Moleman is a character that I feel sorry for, like Bill Dauterive on King of the Hill.Β  Everything bad that can happen always seems to happen to poor Hans.

I guess I find the sisters interesting; I've probably had some aunts that were not too different from them. They're certainly interesting to draw. I just got done with a fanfic story where they were actual witches; they sort of save the day, but their bickering is legendary. I'm assuming you've read "That Green Glow" where a meteor lands in the Simpsons back yard and they all get some sort of strange power - I finished the second story over the weekend at work.

Thank you for posting this, it reminded me of something I wanted to ask you. I saw on you tumblr that you posted a line art for Patty and Selma in your puppet universe ( I forget what its called). That gave me an idea. I loved your Brobdingnagian Marge piece on tumblr, have you thought about doing a Brobdingnagian Patty and Selma? I would totally fav that if it was on here, or reblog it if it was on tumblr.

Oh, there's always a possibility that I'll do something like that on Tumblr. Somewhere I know I've even got an alternate color scheme for the twins in the Brobdingnag and Lilliput universes. And thanks for following on Tumblr - I like to sketch dump there.
