Description LINEART BY THE OH-SO-AWESOME : [link]
Except I'm extremely lazy pressed for time; otherwise the coloring wouldn't be this half-assed messiness. I'M SORRY MEIBATSU, I'M NOT DOING YOU PROPER JUSTICE HERE.
Totally forgot to color the lighter. orz

Procrastination coloring practice/warm up for the other ginormous projects. (I think their combined ridiculous resolutions killed SAI for a few minutes...)
WIPs! The unfinishedness! Omg!

My, oh my, Soren-san, you look so serious!

That kind of clothing is so unlike him, yet so well fitting!

Love this piece

Given the theme, though, I'd say it was a fairly accurate match.

Thank you!

Aw, thank you! ^^ But there are still many things I would like to improve about the way I color. We are all perpetually learning, after all.

xD There isn't even oodles and oodles of hair this time (the way I usually try to find an excuse to do because, omfg, shiny pretty hair).
Thank you!

:> There's so many lovely folds in the original lineart! Though it was kind of confusing to sort out, especially since it was somebody else's.

Haha, I have more trouble figuring out my own crap doodles than other peoples.

ohh... you colored it in! This looks awsome, are you planning on coloring the rest?

Guavi In reply to endspire [2010-05-10 05:25:53 +0000 UTC]

Probably not in the TOO near future, though if I had the time I would love to. xD Fanime stuff are first and foremost in my arting priority list, followed by school projects. Though of course there's always the random doodles in-between that I like to squeeze out so much...
Thank you!

Your colooooors are so niiiiiiice. ;_; For some reason, I'm really bad at coloring things digitally. O__o

I look forward to seeing your projects!

Guavi In reply to mxskai [2010-05-14 17:26:48 +0000 UTC]

But your traditional colors are amazing. ._.

The key with digital, I think, is that you must use what you have at your disposal. Especially with PhotoShop and all of its silly tools. Hue shift? Overlays? Contrast adjust? SURE WHY NOT, YOU CAN.

The program you use does tend to have a huge effect on the overall effect, though. Part of it is also getting used to that.

mxskai In reply to Guavi [2010-05-15 03:45:41 +0000 UTC]

Ha ha, not really. XD It took me a looong time to figure out what colors I wanted to use though. :> And it was really hard to make... >_>;;

Yeah, I suppose so... You do have a good point with the Photoshop tools. Me + overlay/curves adjustment/textures/other color manipulation tools = FAILURE. Another thing is that I'm usually much better at traditional stuff than digital. I apply my traditional techniques to digital painting, and it just fails. T_T I'm sitting there trying to get the OpenCanvas brush to look like acrylic paints.... and.... yeah. *facepalm*

I think I'm also really bad at picking out colors. At least with paints, you can just slap together a few colors to get what you want. But with digital stuff... it's just... ugh. XD

Oooooh~~~ Really awesome colouring job, even though you say it was rushed and messy (my sketch was rushed and messy too, so it all evens out!) ^^

Love all the greens on him--actually makes me think of St. Patty's day again!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Guavi In reply to Meibatsu [2010-05-10 05:38:43 +0000 UTC]

Aww, thank you! >3< I prefer messy sketches to clear-cut lineart, actually. There's just something so visually wonderful to me about defining features without being completely definite, if that makes any sense.

LOL I swear everything started out blue-ish and then...the color wheel in my head went nuts with the highlights and shadows. xD;
