Well, these are characters from Shaun Tan's book The Arrival.( [link] ) A storybook without any words. Utter. Genius.

As far as I know, these characters don't have names . So, I took the liberty to name them myself. Beeple, Oovle and Skrittle. (they have their names in the symbols there as well. I didn't know what Oovle's was, so I just took a symbol that is in a scene with him in it

Their collective names are Little Helps. Because they're sort of like pets, sort of like guardians... they help you a little bit

I've also made my own Little Help and her name is Sinettle. She somewhat resembles a fox, a cat and a pudgy dog. With leaf-like wings... I don't know.

And interesting concept. Sort of weird, but inspired by Shaun Tan - my absolute favourite artist. His good friend and coworker is Gary Crew, my favourite author. (Gary Crew's also a college lecturer and the head of an English department a few towns away! I hope I might be able to study there and meet him!)

He's won so many awards for his work. He's an author, too. Well, I think he's written two picture books on his own. He makes picture books that aren't really for children. They're easy to read, but they have so much meaning and his pictures have amazing detail. I want to do stuff like him when I'm older But I don't want to steal his style. Just be inspired by it

I don't think I could do what he does, anyway!

Anyway, I really suggest you should see some of his work - it's really deep!
