You HAVE seen some of my other shots, right? I don't even think this one is my best one. Have a browse if you haven't already: [link]
And yeah, I'm totally sure that with me going out in these storms that I may get injured at some point, whether it would be because I wreck my vehicle driving in adverse weather, or because of the storm itself doing something. But still, the excitement of watching a storm develop, pass overhead, and produce such awesome sights and sounds is more than enough to keep me going after every storm I possibly can.

I try to be careful as much as possible. It's not the lightning that worries me, but it's the OTHER people who are driving in this weather when it hits. People are so terrified of rain >.<

Thanks! I've been going back through some of my older photos too see which ones I haven't uploaded yet, so that way I can keep the watchers entertained during the off-season ^.^

I would love to spend 3 months in the Midwest during that time of year, but it's painful enough getting time off work for that, let alone how much it would cost just to BE there...

Don't forget about the South either. This year the South had some pretty crazy stuff go down *cough*Yazoo City, Mississippi*cough*. Believe me, I spend over a month in the South each year, I've seen some crazy stuff go down.

We get lightning like that around here too. The biggest thing I'd come down there for wouldn't just be lightning, but just the awesome storm structures themselves.

Same here, but this year my luck was that nearly every major storm worth watching happened after dusk when my camera wouldn't get a thing.

Most of the time I prefer getting storms at night. They produce the best shots with lightning. It's especially awesome when you get a lightning shot that envelopes a glow in the area, lighting up the clouds and even rain. It makes for an eerie yet serene scene.

Perhaps I have. It's kinda hard for me to keep track of all my conversations these days. ^^
Indeed. I would love to watch the whole process from sunrise to sunset.

I've watch storms from almost start to finish, catching them early in the day and following them on into the night. Even without photos to tell the tale, it's an interesting experience.

I imagine it would be. I've seen them build up all the time and I've seen them unleash their fury plenty of times but I've never seen both ends of the story in the same day.

I've only sought it out once. It's cool to a point, enough to say you've done it, but it's not any sort of bragging rights. More of just a "personal goal", as, really, you achieve nothing from it.
The parts I still like watching most are the beginning and the middle. The storm fading out isn't anywhere near as interesting.
I dunno, there's still something about it that's cool.

Of course.
Certainly once the fun is over...well the fun's over. I'm waiting for the day that I can see a storm unleash a twister.

Same. We hit a Tornado Warning in the county I'm in now this year, and I was out in that storm. Sadly, it produced nothing (well, technically, that's a good thing, since it's a heavily populated area), and then I ended up getting caught in the core of the storm (which produced hail). Thankfully, no damage was done, and it was an awesome experience, so I can only imagine how awesome getting a REAL storm would be.

Heh, funny enough I currently live in the single most tornado-prone county in the nation, which btw is actually in northern Colorado. I didn't live here at the time (I moved in only 3 months ago) but the city I live in has been under at least twenty tornado warnings this year alone (and most of the time tornadoes actually did occur).
I remember two years ago, early June, I was in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I was at a Super Walmart at about 9:30 in the morning. It was cloudy and raining when I pulled in but by the time I was ready to leave it was raining in sheets and the sky was so green it was like an eerie off-teal fog. Hail soon followed, wind was blowing like hell, lightning everywhere. The storm itself was only a few hundred feet high and moving quickly. It was an awesome experience. I learned later that day that this same storm produced a rain-wrapped EF3 near the Arkansas border.

Wow. Intense. I've been in some pretty crazy storms. I think Hail would concern me the most, especially if my vehicle got damaged over it >.<

Tell me about it. omg Yeah hail would be a pain. My car is too nice and too hard to find for me to risk hail damage. >.<
