I agree with CarmenDeanSylvastre. Would love to see this in another angle. Very graceful looking and elegant. Like the color tones as well!

God, it's amazing, could you make the same creature in a different view? Don't stop your great job!

It could pull off from a body model for an irl Latios or Latias. Sorry if i'm taking away from the seriousness of this by mentioning Pokemon "^_^ .

the Speculative dinosaur project is not defunct, it's just undergoing a period of revision due to some of the ground breaking discoveries that have been made in the last few years. consensus on the specific changed that need made is still not yet achieved. (the site won't get updated until some of the finer details are worked out.. we are getting closer though)
the discussion is ongoing at the yahoo group mailinglist.
though i am sad to say, in Spec the entire Plesiosauria family is extinct.. the Mosasauria have replaced it for the most part. there is the Leviathan however which is a Mosasaur with convergently similar bodyplan.
this creature is very impressive though. i'm not sure how plausible it is, but it looks great.

It's not just defunct, it's deader than dead. They can have fun posting on an irrelevant newsgroup for decades without making any progress whatsoever, that's fine, but there IS no specworld. It doesn't exist. The only traces of it left are on deviantart and some patchy wiki backups. It would be great if there was a new, real site (not a temporary thing that disappears overnight), but seeing as the people behind it are so lost in the stone age that they're legitimately using yahoo of all things it's time to face facts and realize that the speculative dinosaur project is over and, aside from a hopeful complete backup that some concerned fan may create in the future, it's never coming back.
People really need to quit spreading this "it isn't dead" rumor around because it's really heartbreaking when you realize how empty of a statement that is.

Thanks Glitterboy- I didn't dig too deeply into the science of my idea, so I can't make much of a case for its' plausibility- but I did have fun making it. Bummed to hear Plesiosauria are still extinct in Spec- the poor guys can't catch a break!
I look forward to seeing the next incarnation of the Speculative Dinosaur project- it's a terrific idea that has already produced some really inspiring artwork.

very cool. I imagine it has short-necked relatives who look even more manta ray-like than this one already does?
lots of Spec-related links are down for one reason or another, sadly. but its still going strong.
