The tones were put in place to give the picture character. Should I change it, it would just be a generic scowling wolf.
Sorry if I sound blunt, but this was a free picture and I hope you understand.

Just because it was free doesn't mean that you should rush it, especially since you offered to do free art... O_O" I'm kinda disappointed in your point of view about art for others. 
"a generic scowling wolf"... Well no it would be my character with a more visible snout. The only problem I see is the contrasts being a little too much and I couldn't even recognize her from the thumbnail because of that, which is a shame because the drawing in itself is beautiful. x3 <3

I didn't rush it at all! idk where you get that idea from, but I can assure you I took my time to work on it!
I did read the info about your character, to get an idea of what she is like so I could bring that back in the drawing....
And I knew she was some kind of species, [Sort of dingo x maned wolf x greyhound]? I just went with wolf (by this I mean that I used the word wolf I didnt actually draw your chara as a wolf) and Im very sorry if I offended you with that. D:
but isn't the fun of getting art from others that you get to see your character in their style?
I drew her like this cause that's just my style.
And with free art I mean... come on? its free. Normally I would ask anybody else for money. You were just lucky enough to win the raffle.
Im not always happy with the art I get from others cause there are some things I would normally not do, but thats what makes it their style.
I'm sure everyone has this, but you just don't point it out because it's just... rude.

Were this a commission it would've been different, but it's not, it's free.
and I'm not mad at you at all, I just hope we can both learn something from this. Anywho the picture is finished as how I would finish it and I'm not changing it.

Oh ok you just sounded like you did, sorry for misunderstanding.
Style =/= changing a character's species though. 
Well I think free art should be the same quality as commissioned art. Cuz to me, by making this raffle, you took the responsibilities to offer your talent to lucky watchers of yours. Where is the luck if you're treated as if your opinion about your prize didn't matter? It's heart-breaking to sort of hear that we're not worth it and don't have the right to ask you for some changes just because we don't pay you in return.
Oh yeah but as I have mentioned above, there is a difference between style and taking too much liberties. Plus I believe mentioned stuff on a ref is here so it has to be respected, info about a character are written to help artists get things right, not for them to take freedom from them, unless you have the permission of it. ^^ (I'm here talking as a commissioned artist, not as a client.)
Yeah I'm not mad at you either and yeah I hope we can both learn from each other.

I didn't change your chara's species (I updated my previous comment) I know that was a bit unclear.
Do you honestly think I didn't work as hard on it as I would've if you had paid me?? I worked as hard on it as I always do.
I never, NEVER said that the quality of the picture doesn't matter to me because it's free.
If you had paid me the outcome of the picture would've been the same, because I like it for how it is now.
I just want to make this clear because I would never in my life not give my heart and soul to a picture just because you didn't pay me.
And when did I disrespect your ref? I read it all, I never said anything bad about it.
And I apoligize if your chara doesn't appear to what your species should be, that was not my intention.
What I'm saying is, is that you should be glad with what you got (because it honestly sounds like you're not), I mean if I like missed a marking or something, ofcourse I would change it in a heart beat.
But you want me to change the contrast, that's just one part of my art-style it's one of the parts that I like about the drawing.
Would I change it, it would look totally different, I tried to lighten it like you said, but it turned out ugly to me and it took away that which gave the drawing character.
And that's just my art-style, if your not happy with that, that's totally fine! so you politely asked if I could change it, and I politely said no.
And now your saying that because I said no to a question(!?) that I don't care about the quality of a picture when I'm not paid in return??
And when did I say your opinions don't matter?? I just said no. Getting "no" as an awsner doesn't mean I don't care.
I do in fact care about all my watchers!

Well I kinda understood your message as "I chose to make it a wolf cuz it's my style". 
Oh yes, I am happy with it! ^^ I like it too! But as I told you earlier on : I didn't even recognize the character on the thumbnail because of the contrasts, which I think means it could be altered so as to see the character better.
Oh you did? Then could you keep the unaltered version in your gallery (as you like it better) and send me the lighter version via sta.sh so I can appreciate both?
No no, it's just the way you put it, that's the impression I got while reading your replies, I'm sorry here again if I reacted the wrong way, that wasn't my attention. And I like your art, don't get me wrong. You're a great artist and I'm happy with the drawing overall.
