Description This was what the sky looked like tonight, this lone cloud was on the outskirts of a beautiful storm that my sister, mum and myself witnessed today.
All I did was line the cloud up with the dead tree in the centre. Our Australian Farmland.

EDIT: Added better border and title. Image is the same.

FULL VIEW For a better look ... durr.

Thanks ... as soon as I saw what a good shot this would make, I grabbed the camera. I'm glad you like it so much!

It looks gorgeous. A golden carpet with some trees springing out if it. Those dark skies really help bring out the colour in your shots, I think you're lucky to live in such a beautiful piece of the country, in particular because it should be easier to capture some lightning in these images. That soft dusty light suits the shot perfectly mate, well done.

Yeah, thanks for the means a lot
Its good, SA is a beautiful place, its very dry, but very unique and the good thing is, that its a forgotten state, no one really tours around SA, its mainly the eastern states. And the place that I live near is 300kms from Adelaide and 475 from Melbourne ... the middle if no where. And thats what its all about
And I always get off topic when I reply to you, lol .....
Thanks for the comment and the fav, means a helluuvalot!!

hehe.. I like when you get off topic. I like learning about you and what makes ya tick. You're a fun person to talk to and I always enjoy it. SA is one place I know I'll eventually tour. I know the east coast like the back of my hand and there's only the inland left to really explore, places like Broken Hill and Bourke. SA would be a blast I feel, even though I'm not too worried about Adelaide itself.

Gregoria In reply to Treiziste [2005-04-29 01:38:33 +0000 UTC]

Lol, well every comment I make leads off into something else ... Glad you like me rambling, I like it when you do too!
I've never been to the east coast before. I've almost been as far as the border between Vic and Nsw, but thats about all. I really love SA though, we have excellent food here, Victorian food is rubbish and too expensive (see here I go off again ...) And you don't like Adelaide? I Adelaide. It may be small, but thats what I like, and its better than Melbourne, the mall is better, the beach side suburb (Glenelg) is the best, the gardens, the food and cinemas, all of which are great.

Treiziste In reply to Gregoria [2005-05-03 04:04:22 +0000 UTC]

Hey we could have met up when I made it to the NSW/VIC border too. That's as far as I ever made it south. I went to uni in Wagga but spent Oktoberfest in Victoria, even though the German Palatinant brewery was the first building to the left after crossing the Murray into Victoria. So that's as far as I made it!

I can't say that I don't like Adelaide, because I just don't know it. What I mean is that I just don't know what would be worth my going there. If I was passing through SA my only worries would be visiting any mates of mine and checking out the natural surrounds. As for Melbourne, well I already know I don't like that place. It has too many Victorians in it, just like QLD!

Gregoria In reply to Treiziste [2005-05-04 04:16:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah we could have! That was a while ago ... 3 years now.
The Murray runs right down into SA and we have to cross it at Murray Bridge to get to Adelaide. Perhaps you could sail down it in your metal tub and we could meet at the bridge

Adelaide is a wonderful city, come and I'll show you! The Adelaide Hills are beautiful, the beaches ... save for the odd shark, are very pretty ... The botanic gardens are beautiful! They have a huge conservatory which is climate controlled to grow tropical trees, plants and flowers, its huge, you can walk through it, heaps of palm trees and water is misted from the glass roof every 10 minutes, its so fun! There are lots of pretty places in SA and I really want to go back to Mt Gambier and take photos before the leaves all fall.
I know! Melbourne is ok, but very big ... every time we go there, the Crows seem to lose their footy match and then all I feel like doing is crying and going straigh home, lol. We yeah, Victorians are constantly at war with South Aussies so, my feelings are quite strong, lol. And they all retire up in QLD because its so damn cold, hehehe.

Treiziste In reply to Gregoria [2005-05-04 04:35:26 +0000 UTC]

That sounds kind of cool. When I lived in Wagga I used to float down the Murrumbidgee on occasion during summer with a few mates. We'd either use truck tubes or just float/swim from the middle of the town and 15km down towards the Uni. Maybe I could skip that though and just wizz in the Murray and mess with Adelaide's water supply instead.

The botanic gardens you mentioned sound great as do the beaches (save for the sharks). I love forests and rainforests so the gardens would definitely draw me in. I practically grew up in the rainforests, spending weekends in them with my dad, collecting orchids for sale. I loved it.

So.. does Mt. Gambier actually look like a volcano to you or does it seem more like a few hills with a lake?

Your feelings about Victoria are very similar to my own for sure. They always seem to be measuring theirselves against NSW and elsewhere, not content just to be a good place. It's annoying really. I'm yet to go watch Souths play the Storm in Melbourne but I'll get around to it over the next 2 years probably. It's a shame the Rams folded otherwise I'd have another reasons to come annoy you.

Gregoria In reply to Treiziste [2005-05-04 06:20:03 +0000 UTC]

Lol, that sounds like heaps of fun! I remember my sister and I used to get in this old iron tub and use old tennis bats as paddles and we would go one at a time and float around in the dam when it was full. It was so fun, but was heaps easy to tip, I think we lost a couple of tubs and by the time the water went down in the summer, they were rusted out!! I remember throwing rocks at my sister, trying to get her to sink.... Oh what a charming child I was

There are only sharks occasionally .. The Botanic gardens are beautiful, yes! I'd love proper rainforests. My mum does too, she's a real rainforest/river lover, lol. She always wants to go somewhere where there are trees and waterfalls when we have a holiday (which is hardley ever).

Yep, Mt Gambier is very big, you can see it for a while away, its like a really big steep hill, its not got any rock faces or anything ... but its a proper crater, if you like, divided into 3. The bottom of the blue lake is very deep, it was only a few years ago that they found the bottom. I'll definately have to get some pictures of it now.

I agree, Victoria is a pretty place, they have some beautiful old towns, lots of Goldrush history and Ned Kelly and all that ... but the food is so dodgey and they don't know what a good central mall looks like. Bourke Street Mall is nothing compared to Rundle Mall in Adelaide and I was expecting it to be bigger and better, but it was neither. Trust me to talk about shopping.

Treiziste In reply to Gregoria [2005-05-04 06:44:00 +0000 UTC]

Riding in a tub sounds like a blast. Porbably the closest thing I have done to that is take my inflatable boat and row it down the main street of South Grafton on the few occasions that it flooded whilst living there. The Clarence River is by far the most impressive river I know of in Australia. It's not as long as the Murray or Darling but it is a lot wider and filled with more sharks.

lol trying to make your sister sink by throwing rocks, jeez you sound like a little terror, one after my own heart!! I never threw rocks at my brother but I did paint toilet rolls red when he was little and cap the tops whilst adding sparklers to them. ACME dynamite of course looking like that. I chased him and all of his little friends up the street. MUWAHAHAHA!! Just as I did the time I wrapped a rather brown and wrinkled leftover sausage from the fridge, in toilet paper. He freaked out when I ate that.

The blue lake in Mt. Gambier sounds wild. I'd love to see your eventual shots of it. The part where you said they only found the bottom a while ago reminds me of when one time my dad dived off a cliff in the "blue pool" at Angourie on the North Coast of NSW. The pool is next to the ocean and was excavated to build an ocean wall, so it's very deep. When he came up, he came to a false surface somehow and nearly drowned. He was down there for ages.

Hey don't worry about talking about shopping ya goose I'm pretty bad in that I'm one of those few guys who actually enjoys it. It's true that I won't love being dragged around looking at shoes and dresses, but I do love checking out the 'cool' stores and just hanging out.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gregoria In reply to Treiziste [2005-05-09 06:56:51 +0000 UTC]

Oh I love the sausage thing, you sick bastard!! lol. And the dynamite, lol. You sound like THE terror, not me!!
I haven't been to many rivers at all. Some of the ones in Victoria in the mountains are beautiful, so so cold!! And no, there are no sharks in them, well not that I noticed, lol.

I have my new camera now, so I'll be going to the Mt on thursday and I'll take a truckload of pics

I don't like clothes shopping at all. I like shoes, but I don't generally shop for them. I'm not one of those girls who goes crazy over dresses and millions of clothes and shoes. My favourite pair of shoes are my Converse All Stars Gee, how tomboyish!!

I love shopping for dvds and cds and stuff like that. I'm a sucker for vintage things, so I like second hand places and I collect Heritage teddy bears. You should see my bed, lol!!! Anyways, I'll stop with the shopping. Thats cool that you like it too

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Treiziste In reply to Gregoria [2005-05-09 07:16:21 +0000 UTC]

lol Still laughing at that bed comment!! Priceless. Yeah ok, so maybe I was a slight terror with both the sausage and dynamite, but deep down I was a caring, people kinda guy.. well.. in some ways. I liked keeping my brother and his friends busy, I enjoyed stirring a bit but I was always the one to stick up for them and sort things out. I used to keep them occupied with fun non freaky ways too though, like hiding 1 and 2 cent coins all around the backyard and having them go on a treasure hunt, doing the whole hot and cold thing.

New camera, ok watch out world she's gonna start snapping like a maniac! When you're over at the volcano be sure to not fall in or choke on any sulphur, mkay? I'd hate to see my mate choked and not have the opportunity to listen to me ramble more. LISTEN TO ME RAMBLE AIMLESSLY DAMNIT!!

Ok, so if we ever went shopping together we'd have a ball then. New clothes are ok but dragging a person around whilst either of you buy them is a bit of a pain if only one of you is doing it. When I head into the Sydney on the occasional weekend I usually: see a movie, eat something I haven't tried before, check out music, dvd, poster, comic, second hand, junk, book and other collectable stores, I know where all of them are. Beyond that it's other stuff like the footy, photography or going on the occasional date with one of the potential psycho hose beasts out there.

Btw, canvas converse allstars.. definitely cool. I still love my red ones and it's not tomboyish at all, just cool.

Gregoria In reply to Treiziste [2005-05-14 01:28:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that treasure hunt would have been a thrill. Nice one. I could imagine you doing something so damn cheely

Yeah, see a movie, eat something yummy ... oh and when I clothes shop (which is not often) I just buy a 'small' in my tops and hope for the best, that way I dont spend ages trying everything on, lol.

Oh you have red ones??!! I've always wanted red connies!!

Treiziste In reply to Gregoria [2005-05-14 04:14:40 +0000 UTC]

Clothes shopping (on my rare occasions too) is usually something I'll do on my own to save boring anyone unless I'm just picking up a shirt or two so we're pretty similar in that. Yeah my converse boots are red, I only ever get those or the black ones, my fondness of them comes from when I was a little kid and everyone into skateboarding wore them. Heh.. I just realised I haven't been on a skateboard ramp in 16 years. I suddenly feel very old.

Motorbike trails through the grass?
How'd you come up with the idea? Can you see the tree from your place or was it along the lines of "omg.. do you know what would look sweet, is if that dead tree that's a 5 minute ride from here is line up directly below that singular cloud..."

Great idea and shot
