This entire arc was a mess uf stupidity, and I am not prepared to give Kubo that much credit.
And yet they bleed, and wounds are treated as a serious issue. This is pushing it to the absurd. They're not dead, they're differently alive- and it's impossible to feel suspense when people act like they might have died after this.

I'm just trying to make some logical sense out of it before just jumping on the "Kubo sux" bandwagon.
Also, I never said they were invincible. I just meant that they can survive WAY more than any human can. Besides, it's been stated before that the only certain way to kill a Shinigami is by destroying the head.

The thing is, there's no logical sense to make of Bleach at this point. It's way past that point. Kubo really does suck, and he proved why with this arc and the one after that. And the one after that.
Yes, evidently they can. This was extreme, and ridiculous.

Did you ever get the suspicion that Ichigo is a masocist?
It seems that he always lets the bad guys beat him up before finaly - remembering about his 'will to fight' / releasing his bankai/ using his mask.

"…dude, you’re good. You (didn’t quite) beat the main villain, you lost your powers and generally failed at life. Quit while you’re ahead."
Loved that line. Well I loved the whole thing. You did a good of recounting everything that failed in Bleach.
And it will only continue with the current arc and onward until Kubo finally ends it (which should have been at the end of the HM arc).

I almost felt like quitting too but I guess most of us are far too deep in despite knowing we're for a roller coaster of ups and downs from here on out. Some are in denial despite the fact that they were bored to death with the Fullbring arc. It's only good 'cause the Shinigami are back. And even then, I wish we could fast forward this part to get to Aizen's eventual return and Isshin's past.

You a Sui-Feng fan? Cool. Everyone is there that I want to see except for Hisagi. And you know all of Kubo's aesthetics changes don't make sense other than it's an obvious ploy to get the fans excited. That, and the fact that he might just be bored of drawing the characters the same way.
I have to same I hope Kubo hasn't come up with new characters for squads 3,5, and 9. In my opinion, it'd be stupid 'cause suposedly the VCs supposedly the ones that are left that are strong.
I suppose the current situation is passable.

Yes, very much so. Except I NEVER say Sui-Feng.
The aesthetics may be the most obvious gimmick ever. Change a few things here and there, make them look "cooler".
I wouldn't be surprised. I had hoped he would give Renji a promotion, but Kubo decided that life must always suck fro Renji.
Passable... except now Ichigo is such a special butterfly, he changed all of soul society. Whoop dee doo.
And also... Hitsugaya says it is a million years old. Science tells us the homo sapiens in 100- 250 000 years old. What the hell was soul society doing those first 750- 900 000 years?

I got used to saying Sui-Feng 'cause supposedly that's the new correct spelling. At first, I wasn't into it, but I dunno I got into writing it that way.
What I find ridiculous is that Kugo has Hollow powers too and a Bankai (Bankai just ain't so special anymore). Oh, btw Ichigo lasted 15 chapters without a Bankai since he got his powers back. He spent nearly all of his time in Bankai since he arrived in Hueco Mundo. The novelty of it has worn off, and the fact of the matter means Ichigo is weak because he always resorts to Bankai. I know because of the plot Ichigo can't really train properly but it annoys me now.Skill is ultimately supposed to be better than sheer power. Ichigo needs to develop actual skill.
And about the 1 million years thing... I honestly don't really take to heart many of the stuff being said by the characters at times i.e. this statement. Because it makes it seem Kubo doesn't know what he's saying or it's just plain ridiculous. I don't think Kubo intends everything to be considered as factual i.e. Aizen's so called 'truth' (I'll believe it if it's referenced again. I'll leave at that). There are times when we have to read between the lines so to speak. Anyways, you make a valid point, and there is the fact that supposedly Yamamoto started the Academy 2100 years ago. What happened back then to the souls on earth? I don't honestly care, but there is that to consider.

It's this matter of chinese characters... it's silly, because it is still pronounced as Soifon, and the Engliah official translation uses that as well. It's what I got used to.
It's not unexpected; Bleach is that ridiculous these days. Ichigo ALWAYS bankai whores. Makes the more restrictive characters seem cooler, since they don't go all out unless necessary. Ichigo has no real experience, they have- and somehow he is still the strongest or whatever.
I am guessing Kubo has no idea about the actual age of humanity. Maybe Hitsugaya is exaggerating for effect? 100 000 years, I could believe- MAYBE.
What's aggravating is that "all of it changed" because of Ichigo. What the hell did he do? He stormed the place, caused a disturbance, managed to get their forces but in half by Leeroy Jenkins-ing into Hueco Mundo... and somehow he is so special, all their tradition bows to him? He doesn't even have that messianic excuse Naruto has.

Yeah, it is caused it's a Chinese name. I guess they're both correct spellings.
I guess not but still, doesn't Kubo have any shame? It's a too much for Kubo to give those powers to Kugo and for it to be revealed quickly. I hope it means we can get of this joker and move on past this filleresque arc. I'm thinking Kugo might still escape a la Aizen.
First off, it's true that power levels in Bleach are screwed up but, of course, that needs to be the case in order for the underdog to be triumphant in battles. As far as the restrictive characters being cooler, well it's all in the eye of the beholder. I think they are and are stronger but many people are more into the more power ups the better. I think the fact of the matter is that the restrictive characters are stronger whether you like it or not.
I really do think Hitsugaya is exaggerating for effect. Ichigo's importance is also being exagerrated. The important things he has done for SS is uncovering Aizen by mistake in a way and almost defeating (Urahara is the real victor).

Written with chinese characters, at least. Pronounced the same, which makes it kind of silly.
Kubo likes money, and lets himself get pushed around by the studio. So, this happens. Shame? Hardly any.
Power levels in bleach, aside from Ichigo, are quite all right. Without Ichigo, this would be a pretty cool series.
And yeah, the restrictive ones ARE stronger. The senior captains are amazingly powerful, as we saw when Shunsui pwned Stark... without using bankai. Or when Yamamoto wreaked all that havoc without a zanpakutou.
A load of cock-and-bull, if you ask me. Ichigo is a liability.

Well, it is obvious Kubo continues for money but still this is just more evidence he's losing his creativity.
Yes, Shunsui and Yamamoto are some of the strongests ones. According to the power stats (which in my opinion are faulty because they don't classify spiritual energy and kido as separate things), Unohana ranks third after Aizen and Yama-jii. I wanna see her fight. Kubo claims he'll give her a scene. Maybe five years later...10 years. He ould have involved her in the final battle against Aizen instead of resorting to making the final battle Ichigo vs Aizen, and he would have given her a fighting scene there.
You know what's annoying is that it is really pointless of for him to continue the series because he ends up revealing some pertinent info in the art books that he should have revealed in the manga itself. I know it's for him to get more money, but nonetheless it pisses me off. I could see him revealing all the missing Bankais and Shikais in his art book.
Out of the VCS, who do you consider the strongest? Renji? I suppose that because he has a Bankai that would be the logical answer. But aside from that Hisagi could be also said the strongest since he's skilled enough not to always resort to his Shikai.

That much is obvious at this point. Really, fullbringers?
THe power stats measaure only theoretical skill, not overall power... they are misguiding. Kenpachi has like, the lowest score and would still beat most captains.
Yamamoto and Unohana and Shunsui should have handled Aizen. That would have been believable AND epic.
And that would be a shame, but at least we'd know the bankais. It's like how he revealed Halibel and fraccion lived- thanks a LOT for not showing that, dickwad. It would have taken what, half a chapter?
Yachiru, then Renji. Because she is a terror like that.
Hisagi's skilled, but he holds himself back too much. Renji has competence and skill, so...

I don't know if you like watching the anime as well, but if you do and are familiar with the Bounto filler arc, I suggest you do a parody/demotivational poster relating Fullbring and the Bount Dolls. It's obvious Kubo got his inspiration there. Even Rukia's new look is something got off from working with the anime design team in making Nozumi Kujo in the recent fillers.
Kenpachi is my example of why those stats failed. He gets a 0 for the combined Spirit enrgy/kido stat. It should be 100 for spirit energy and kido 0.
It would have been cool to see Yamamoto, Unohana, Shunsui and Ukitake handling Aizen.
Ah, so you heard about that? I would have preferred Harribel to be dead. Why does it matter that she survived? I honestly don't understand how much power the magazine and his editors have over but whatever their effect is on him is ridiculous. He needs to tell the story he wants to tell.
I'd love to see what Yachiru is really capable of underneath her childlike behavior. I partly see your point about Hisgai, how holding back too much is bad, but I still disagree. If we judge them solely on fights, Hisagi has won one lost one, while Renji has lost way more. This is part of the reason people cite power levels as being missed up in Bleach. Most characters lose more fights than they win.

Yes, the Bounts were better than the Fullbringers. And to be honest since the start I was waiting for Kubo to bring the invasion of the Fullbringers to Soul Society because the Human World is boring. Which is another reason I couldn't stand human villains.
I'd give you other ideas, but it'd just be the obvious similarities. I'm sure you'll come up with funny stuff.
Aizen is a messed up dude with allegiance only to himself. It would have been better if Harribel had been beaten by the Vizards and Hitsugaya in true battle. I find it real pointless for her to be alive, other than we have the fact that she's alive. I dunno maybe Kubo will try to bring her back into the story someday...
You're right it isn't a feasible assesment about power. I was in a rush and I didn't really explain myself. As a matter of fact, forget about comparing Hisagi and Renji in general. I just want to again bring up the fact that power levels as you've pointed in your demotivational poster are messed up. Some people die from the dumbest cuts while others survive worst attacks. It doesn't bother me entirely because it's obvious that the underdogs winning is a theme of Bleach. However, I just wanted to bring up the fact that Renji is looked down upon by many fans as being weak because someone comes to help him. But then again, that is true of many other characters.

Human world
I'll think of something when my cold blows over.
Well, she wasn't losing... she could have won. So why kill her? Just because?
The way people either ignore fatal wounds or go down is completely arbitrary, and likely related to whether the plot needs them to go on or not.
Renji is fairly cool in my book. It's a pity he never gets to shine.

asdarklover In reply to Greatkingrat88 [2011-12-12 03:14:05 +0000 UTC]
Atleast they're dead most of 'em anyway. No need for 'em.
Harribel could have won yes, but if Kubo wanted to keep up his underdogs to win, then he could have had them beat her. It seems Kubo almost just killed her just because then added that stuff in his artbook for the heck of it. It's really frustating that from that point on he rushed his story for nothing. Atleast it feels that way now. He really could have just added a shorter arc tying loose ends and it would have been fine to end Bleach.
So, then you agree he doesn't get to shine? I like Renji and just for the record I would put him as the strongest VC becaue he has Bankai although I feel that Hisagi probably his more skill if not strenght than he does.

Yeah. If we never heard from them again, I would not be surprised.
It felt like he had Aizen strike her down just to make a point on how EVUL he is. It felt entirely pointless.
And yes. Loose ends exist still galore, and they need tying. like, what the hell happened to Nel?
I agree, yes. He should at least get a promotion to captain- some acknowledgement of his skill.
As for Hisagi... probably more general skill and dedication, more rounded off as a fighter- Renji is all about attacking, swordplay and such, while Hisagi at least uses kido intelligently.

In Japan, calling people by their last name gives respect, which Ichigo really isn't giving to Rukia. In the manga, he pulled her up by the shirt. XD Ichigo is uber nice to Orihime in the manga (not like Kon but still). He really does notice Inoue in the manga as much as how he notices Rukia in the anime.
Manga (Inoue) or Anime (Rukia)- He's dense in both anime/manga. I think Rukia and Orihime are going to fall in love because of the IchiRuki and IchiHime shipping wars, with Ichigo and Renji in luck for yuri but that's just me. XD

I was... pretty unimpressed with that essay. It had factual errors- GinRan was never confirmed to be canon, for one. And shonen is EXTREMELY low on Romance- it does NOT count as a romance if we find out a couple used to be, but is dead when it is revealed.
And Orihime being considered a love match failure is not really due to fans liking Rukia better- although it is true that fan influence counts- the rationalization is that Rukia has the spine and guts to put Ichigo in his place when he's being an idiot, while Orihime, submissive as she is, would not.
That essay was heavily biased towards IchiHime. If you have a more impartial example, I would be glad to view it.
(I favour IchiRuki myself, but it's not a big deal who ends up with who to me as I plain do not like Ichigo.)

I was only proving that BOTH Rukia and Orihime are important to Ichigo. Sorry that it's part Ichihime but if there was a better site to prove my point, I wouldn't have shown you this one to be honest. The fact Rukia has a spine is why Orihime loved/envied her. Though, Orihime has a spine when Ichigo ISN'T around her aka: Ulquiorra, Uuryu, Grimmjow, etc. I favor Ichihime but I could care less either since I also ship Orihime with Uuryu as well.

It's Orihime loves Ichigo but yeah you have a point. Couldn't find something better to prove my point. Heh.
Yeah, I agree it was kind of special, mainly cause she opened him to the world of shinigami (despite being a shinigami was already in his DNA prior! XD). Though personally to me the speciality was gone when he tossed Rukia like a potato sack to Renji. Yeah, I admit he would've done the same for Chad and Uuryu. But they chose Orihime. Why must the innocent and strong at heart be a victim all the time?! It's not fair!
Yeah, I only approve her with four people- Ichigo, Rukia, Uuryu, and Tatsuki.
Though I would've respected Ishihime more but the fact that Orihime thought Uuryu was Tatsuki while starting to change clothes during soul society arc in the manga was so hilarious Ishihime ties with Tatsuhime while IchiHime ties with RukiHime in my book. XD

Yeah, too bad he said he HAD to save her, rather than WANT like he did for Inoue (Which, like you said, he would've done the same for Chad and Uuryu since it wasn't really special, except for the Vasto Lorde form. That only works with Inoue being the victim. So it was only a BIT special in THAT case). It kind of ruined it as well as tossing her to Renji, calling her midget half the time in the anime/manga, yeah. I admit, it was moving arc for me but me being a fan of RenRuki (yeah I'm a sucker for childhood friends), I'd have to say Ichigo and Rukia act like brothers, considering Ichigo tends to treat her like a guy a lot of times despite Rukia being a girl.
