I feel like they made the girls multi-colored to avoid a racial issue. Like how some people would think Rainbow Dash should be african american. Some people don't. If you make her blue then you avoid that.

Nice picture. But personally I'm glad Hasbro DIDN'T go with this because from my experience in the brony fandom some of the fans are very picky it comes to the race of the ponies in human form. I saw people who were going in on people making Twilight black or Fluttershy Middle Eastern. So I can see why Hasbro chose to keep them in their pony colors.
