That's probably what Sherlock has too. He has trouble expressing his emotions and understanding other people's feelings, points-of-view etc. but he still has feelings and can generally care about people.

He really reminds me of myself in a strange way (though I'm not nearly as observing and smart)!
If I was his flatmate we would spend our days fighting and arguing (and me berating him for the noise and mess he made)
