While Wendell is on his way to the cabin, he picks up a young woman who is just hitchhiking. This will be his next victim, but she has been very affectionate to the point where her head is leaning on his shoulder. As they are walking inside the cabin, she thinks that she will have to pay her way out of it. So she tries to undress. But is not quick enough to realise that Wendell cuts her throat. Her last words, that she tries to scream, but it ends in a whisper, "You! M-monster..."

That is when Wendell realises something... This young woman looks almost like his wife, the first time they met. Is this what he is destined to do? Kill his wife? No, that is not about to happen. Even if he has to avoid her, for the rest of his life, he will do anything in his power to not kill her. If only he is able to see that he is wrong.
