If it is anything I have learned over the years, it is that getting human anatomy experience before drawing anime is the way to go. All of the really good anime artists on deviantart learned it before they drew anime, so they had an accurate structure that they could break down and simplify from the knowledge of human anatomy. yeah, i'm definitely still learning when it comes to anatomy i have a lot of references saved and i'm working at drawing bodies better, especially for males! I personally don't see the harm in applying anatomy as you draw anime style -- it still sticks to actual human anatomy for the basics and there's no harm in drawing anime style alongside it IMO
