With an elegant move, he grabbed the heavy chain around my neck and pulled me closer, as if I were a dog and he were the owner. For a short moment, I felt a sharp pain in my neck, I tried hard not to fall flat on my face, my legs hurt as they were forced to move towards him. Since I was here, he had constantly treated me like this. I had stopped caring about it, struggling just made the whole situation worse, and trying to escape from here was impossible. Walking very slowly, I moved closer and looked up to him. For some reason, I could see a satisfied grin on his face. Did he enjoy seeing me so helpless and vulnerable?

I lost count of the days, weeks, months I had spent inside this creepy castle, in the hands of this gruesome man. All I could care about was surviving as long as possible and quickly trying to get out of here. By now I knew that surviving was pretty easy. He provided me with food, water and even a bed. But getting out of there was a different story. First off, he had caught me on the first time and put me in chains so I couldn't try it again. Then, at the second time, one of his minions caught me and sent me back to the castle, which, of course, made him angry. He had asked me why I repeatedly tried to escape. Well, why? Simply because I didn't belong here. I belonged to the town, to my father, a barkeeper, and my mother, his wife. Maleficent... why did you have to bring me here?

He pulled me closer and closer, until I stood right next to him and stared right up into his face. Then, Maleficent let go of the chain and stared at me. I almost felt like a dwarf next to this tall man.

"Say, are you tired?", he asked, sounding surprisingly gentle and charming. I gulped and nodded slowly. He most likely had noticed my sleepy gaze.

"To be honest, I just couldn't sleep last night..."

"I see... well, in this case, you shall get some rest, my dear."

It was kind of surprising to hear something like this. Maybe he was trying to play a nasty trick on me. Maybe he had planned something different. My head almost exploded, trying to figure out what it could be.

"If.. if you don't mind...?"

"Why would I?", he replied and grimaced at me, it looked like a smile for a moment.

"I don't want you, my poor girl, to suffer from sleep deprivation... It doesn't suit your pretty face."

I felt my cheeks blushing due to the embarassment and couldn't help but to give him a really awkward smile while taking a step back. Did he seriously just call me pretty? Me, his new pet? His slave? His prisoner?

"I... I shall go to bed, then...", I replied quietly, gulped and stared at his hand, expecting him to let the chain go. He still held it tight and it seemed like he wouldn't let go of it. Getting slightly nervous, I lifted up my gaze.

"Is there... anything else I can do for you? ", my mouth said, before I could stop myself. I could see he was slightly surprised about my question. Then he narrowed his eyes, pulled me a little closer again and moved his face towards mine. He obviously wanted to frighten me.

"Do I seem like there's... anything else...?", he asked quietly, making me tremble. His low, creepy voice would always send shivers down my spine and didn't fail to do so this time, either. Shaking my head quickly, I bit my lower lip and tried not to look into his glowing eyes. Still, I could feel them focussing on mine. I heard him growl in anger, when he pulled me even closer and I was now forced to watch the boisterous flames in his eyes anyway.

"W... why won't you let go then...?", I whispered. My voice wouldn't obey anymore. His eyes seemed to brighten for some reason, only for a second. Then, he showed off his sharp teeth, licked his lips with his wet tongue. Why was he drooling?

"You're sweet... when you don't know what to do."

"Thank you, but..."

He instantly let me go, leaned back on his throne and watched me stumbling behind. Since I hadn't expected that, I landed on my butt with a loud thud and squeaked.

"I didn't mean to frighten you, my dear. It just suits you so well, that certain look of fear. And what rhymes, is true."

I slowly got up and fixed my dress, not daring to look his way. He had just done that so he could see my scared face? What in the world was so awesome about it? And what exactly about it suited me so well?

"Can I go to bed now, please...?", I asked carefully, grabbed the chain and picked it up. He nodded slowly and moved his hand towards the door, showing me that I was allowed to leave now. But for some reason, I felt like he wanted me here, next to him, and just allowed me to go so he could make me feel better. My heart seemed as if it were about to burst through my chest. The situation was quite uncomfortable for me.

I turned away from him and took my first few steps towards the door. The heavy chains in my arms made it hard to move, and my neck hurt. My legs felt as if they were on fire. The more I walked, the happier I was about being able to sleep soon. Maybe, just maybe, I'd soon find a way to get out of here, too. And maybe, just maybe, a little fairy would appear in my dream and show me the way out of this castle, away from this place, back home. I let the chains go, so I could open the large and heavy door, leading into the hallway.
