*Wipes brow* Phew, this was HARD. And I'm still not happy with how the head came out - he looks like he's had a brick fall of his head XD I guess I like the shading though - so all is not lost ^_^Photoshop CS$

Well it's mainly to do with shading to get the realistic effect, but basically I just get a really tiny brush (like 1px - 3px) and draw each individual hair on in black, than change the layer setting to soft light and add shading layers on top ^^

Don't worry about that, you have already gotten me beat when it comes to fur and whiskers(definitely with whiskers) as it is. Against my traditional pencil anyway,don't know about digital. But just out of curiosity, did you put the reference image in black & white before drawing it? I've always found it to be easier that way when you do grayscale.

No I didn't greyscale the reference image - I was going to do my version in colour, but I thought it would be easier to shade in greyscale and then colour it afterwards. Once I'd done the shading though, I kinda liked it as it was, although I never changed the original image

*blushes* Thank you for the compliment, but must be hard to say that when you haven't seen many of my furries yet. I mean, the leviathan doesn't qualify(digital and no fur), Faith doesn't really fit because that was my first and only try with digital fur,'Black' doesn't do it at all, and the two anime pieces are the only ones done in pencil. Wasn't too happy with the hair there either.
Neat trick doing gray first. Haven't really seen many people do that. Sweeeeeeeeeet! ( as my brother likes to say)^^

I probably should, but only our old computer is rigged to the scanner, and the old computer has no internet and is SLOOOOOWWW beyond belief XD I'll probably get round to it one day though - to be honest my digital work is much better ^^

lol yeah, but it would be more trouble than it's worth to do - and there's no room to put it in the hall where this computer is so it would have to sit on the floor. I'll get round to it eventually though ^_^ Infact since Im doing a lot more sketches now to get ready for uni I'll probably be uploading some pretty soon ^^
