Austin, is the undisputed capital of the world. Texan corporations, though facing good competition from Russian, Ardanzian, and French ones, dominate much of the world. The Texan military is by far the strongest.

Every American stereotype is exacerbated here; Texas has a massive military industrial complex and robust state governments, yet a weak federal government. Even in the third decade of the 21st century, Texas is ready and willing to invade a country on the other side of the planet (like Katanga) for missionizing the locals and getting the good resources (separation of church and state is less of a thing here). On the bright side, Texas is more racially mixed and there are less racial divisions here. Global warming though, is starting to become a big problem due to lack of attention. Though with the more advanced technology in agriculture and transportation, this may be less of a problem soon.

The world has a generally corporatist-capitalism gone overkill atmosphere to it, though nations like France (social democratic), and Japan (absolutist imperialist) there is resentment towards the Texan dominated companies that generate wealth in this more globalized world where there is both less poverty than OTL, but much, much higher income inequality.

The other big trend has been towards monarchies; in almost all of the old world (save for oddballs like Switzerland or the Maghrebi Union) nations still have some sort of hereditary leader. Even nations like Britain (which killed its last local king in the 19th century) and Germany (which lost its after being on the losing side in the Great war), have foreign kings instilled (France and Austria respectively, both sent a prince to one of those nations to be a new king).

Africa, is the one place not so much better off than OTL; local kings are propped up by the four big powers (really just three: Texas, Russia, and Japan, but Ardanzia makes up with military might and would like to tag along). The British, ruled almost the entire continent prior to losing big in the Great War, and the continent is considerably whiter than OTL as a result. Much of Africa existed under Apartheid type regimes after the war, but due to international pressure they were dismantled. Three still exist in areas where white settlement was particularly high though, and they continue to exist mainly by being totally walled in isolated states (though the highly secret aid that Japan gives for resources really helps).

The Americas are loosely united in 'the United States of the Americas', well except for Brazil, but nobody in the western hemisphere likes them anyway. Super catholic Ardanzia is a functional democracy (if dominated by one party) that's got its fingers in its neighbor's business, and gets along sort of okay with Texas (hey- they're way better than the Russians or Japanese). Also in the Americas is the United Provinces of Allegheny (more quiet, secular, humble, and French populated than the OTL U.S.) but nobody remembers them anyway.

Japan, formerly the second biggest power, is now in the middle of losing this status, having already let Tibet and Mongolia walk away, due to fighting in China. Russia worries about the more directly controlled protectorates in the Balkans and Persia.
