Description Sometimes Lord Hizora, King of the Forest and Ruler of Animals, liked his job. He liked the attention and the adventures and when he got to shout at people and right wrongs and all the exciting sorts of things he had read about in stories.

But along with the shouting and the adventures and the righting of wrongs, being King also meant you were at the service of every resident of the forest, and their demands could range from holding back a landslide so the badgers could evacuate, to listening to a squirrel's petty grievances about the nut yield that year.

…Sometimes Lord Hizora hated his job. Especially when he was hungry.

Okay, if you recognize this character, and who and what he is, you have officially been stalking me for TOO LONG! If not… well, if you comb through the deepest recesses of my gallery, you may find a character who looks an awful like like Hizora here, who is also King of the Forest. Only back then he was called Hikatsu and he was more human than animal. He is a member of a race of beings called Taikyo, giant snakelike ferrets with horns and long fluffy tails who can transform into smaller, anthro versions of themselves.

Hizora/Hikatsu was a character from a series of stories I wrote back in 2004 which I intended to turn into a graphic novel. But after finishing them I realized they were melodramatic, formulaic and uninteresting, so *TheIronWizard happened instead. Recently, however, I have been concocting a new story in which many members from the original 2004 novel will have cameos, and took the opportunity to resurrect them.

Looks very oriental, but you were going for that right? As I said elsewhere, he's got a long tail.

Yup indeed. These guys were largely inspired by Japanese mythology.

And yes, tail length is a status symbol among his kind, and he is the King, after all.
