Zutara Week 2010, Day One: FamilyI had hoped to color this, but the linework took FOREVER to get just right, and I wanted to submit it on time. I'll color it once the opportunity arises, though.

I LOVE the parallel of Ursa and Kya's expressions here. Even with only half their faces, that pained half-smile is magnificently done.

The idea is that the background images are, from young Zuko and young Katara's perspectives, the last time they saw their mothers. The bottom half is Kya, Katara's mother, just as the leader of the Southern Raiders is about to come for her. The top half is Ursa saying goodbye to Zuko on the night of Fire Lord Azulon's death. ^_^
