Description First came the non-denominational holiday mug art, now the denominational. Not trying to impose my beliefs on others, just celebrating in my own way

For those who don't know, Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaiian for Merry Christmas. Through the cold months, maybe it will be good to keep warm thoughts

Media: Design and text created with pen tool in Photoshop, brush effects created with brush tool.

I walk around work singing "Melekalikimaka" all the time and the two girls I work with actually had to ask me to pronounce it so they could even say it. Needless to say, I wish I could get my hands on this mug, but I dun have a credit card or anything like that! T^T

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GoblinQueeen In reply to Jasmeralda [2004-12-06 03:16:43 +0000 UTC]

It's the same mask design, but I streched it out a bit and re-drew it with the pen tool so the lines are a lot cleaner

Warmth + tiki = my kinda xmas!

Yeah, that song (Bing version), Santa Baby, and Snoopy's Christmas are the only songs being played right now that don't make we want to stuff my ears with snow fluff. Xmas tunes are nice and all. But hearing them round the clock at work starting three days before thanksgiving is too much.

This would make a lovely door sign...or car window banner...or tie.

GoblinQueeen In reply to crokittycats [2004-12-02 06:00:48 +0000 UTC]

lol, yeah. A couple years ago, pzb, Jas, and I were at a Color Me Mine. They had the music on the whole 6 hours we were there and we were so ready to hear something else by the end.

OOOoooo, a banner would be cool. I think I'm going to make some cards out of it

Aa! Ee! Mele Kalikimaka e Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!!

I swear every Christmas we have to sing this song more than we really should because all of the folks visiting us from the mainland think it's all exotic and stuff... Hehe, but it's fun! ^_^

Me ka aloha pau ole a hui hou! *Christmas huggles*

A tiki dude! Reminds me of the Christmas scene at the end of Lilo and Stitch. And thinking warm thoughts is probally very wise indeed.

GoblinQueeen In reply to raney [2004-12-01 21:08:09 +0000 UTC]

I have a font that's quite similar based on the Gilligan's Island style that I've used on occation, but this a bit different done with the pen tool in Photoshop.

Good job!

you created this with the pen tool on Photoshop? wow, you have much more patience than i!
it really looks great, though, the lines are so clean....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GoblinQueeen In reply to bizarro4 [2004-12-01 09:04:44 +0000 UTC]

oh, the pen tool is very much my best friend now that I know how to use it The clean lines are what make it so wonderful. For example, The Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorothy Lamour piece was done painstakingly with the brush tool and took forever and a day, where as with the Mulan piece, I was able to do it almost entirely by pen tool and it took a fraction of the time.

bizarro4 In reply to GoblinQueeen [2004-12-02 07:12:55 +0000 UTC]

wow, i bow to your talent! maybe someday i too shall make peace with the pen tool.

GoblinQueeen In reply to bizarro4 [2004-12-03 18:15:59 +0000 UTC]

lol, you should Though admittedly, it wasn't until I figured out I could hold down the Ctrl button and drag the anchor points to where ever I wanted to that it all came together.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bizarro4 In reply to GoblinQueeen [2004-12-03 23:13:07 +0000 UTC]

the ctrl button? is this on a Mac or a PC? you know, i should just open Photoshop and figure it out for myself....
thanks for the tip!

GoblinQueeen In reply to bizarro4 [2004-12-04 01:17:27 +0000 UTC]

That's PC talk. If your working Mac, I think it's the apple key or the wierd little one next to it.

bizarro4 In reply to GoblinQueeen [2004-12-06 01:14:20 +0000 UTC]

you're right, it's the apple key thingie. thanks for the tip, i shall wrestle with the pen tool soon.... if i were really ambitious, i'd try to ink my drawings that way...but laziness shall probably prevail!

GoblinQueeen In reply to bizarro4 [2004-12-06 03:18:01 +0000 UTC]

You never know, sometimes I feel like I'm being more lazy by using it
