Description
My first view of the Himalayan mountain range in its true grandeur.Staring at the snow-capped peaks towering high above the tiny houses dotting the valley floor, I just felt a sense of freedom.

Well it is usually warmer here in Anchorage than in the center of the state, or further north, but this year so far, has been ridiculously warm and making a mess of icy roads. I would prefer, if it has to be cold, that it stay around 17 F, I can tolerate that, but that is not the case this year, as we have been above freezing in the daytime and even into the nights. It's really awful, and not extremely pretty. Fresh snow usually helps with the scenery, though.

I see. I went during summer, so I'm not sure how winter looks like, but most days were cloudy though. I heard it's usually the case.
I think it's Potter's Marsh, I love that place! Many wildlife and birds, and of course almost the whole Seward Highway is beautiful

It is wonderful that you were able to visit Alaska. It can be sunny in the summer, but you're right, we seem to get most of the actual sunshine in the winter. And trust me, with the days as short as they are in the winter, we really need how ever much sun we see! I usually like summers here, but they can be too wet sometimes.

I would love to go again, but as Alaska is halfway across the globe, I have to get lots of leave from work in order to go for a decent trip, so I'm afraid it's not very possible in the near future. But I'll definitely be back for more
