A colored version of my rendition of a Guardian from Minecraft.

Guardians are the deadliest creatures of the deep, usually inhabiting ruins of a civilization long ago. Their scales have adapted to the blue-green color of the ruined cities to better blend in to capture prey. The spikes that line the Guardian's body are tipped with a dangerous venom that can incapacitate any creature in seconds. The spikes can be retracted and can shoot out with great speed due to the air pressure inside the Guardian's body.

The Guardian's eye is the most dangerous part of its body. It emits a laser-type ability that can boil the skin of a creature and rupture any internal organs if it hits the body. While this ability is very dangerous, it seems that the Guardian needs to charge it, leaving enough time to flee before it can attack.

The Guardians' behavior is odd-- even though they seem to hunt for food, they have never been observed to eat their prey. Instead, any captured creature is brought into the ruinous cities they dwell in. Speculation is that the underwater cities act as a nest for a larger colony. Darker suspicion is that there is something larger that is being fed.
