Description Finally have the real keychain on there. so here is the final result of 8 months or work.

The keychain was done with plywood and silver leafing, since I wanted to do something quick and easy. No changes have been made to the body.

It's not perfect, but I tried to get as accurate to the game version as possible. Well this is the end of one project, and now the start of a new one. Too bad I didn't have time to make the armor.

What does everyone think?

I have designs for three more, two of them are original designs that I will be constructing for an Anime Convention in a year if I can get them done in time. Right now I'm working on a suit of armor that has to be done by March 2013.

If you don't mind my asking, how did you make the keychain and the chain links?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

globalionGrid In reply to ultradudepatric [2012-06-26 18:47:28 +0000 UTC]

the keychain was carved from a piece of plywood with the jewels glued into the middle. The chain links where custom shaped from metal wire and connected together.

Thanks, I'm actually about to start another one. This time I'm making an original design with a full suit of armor to match.

This looks amazing. I especially like the chain of the keychain, the fact that you paid attention to the structure detail - many artists ignore or forget this!

I did my research to try and match the design to the game version. I wanted good detail, or at least have it look like I just pulled it out of the game itself. I even gave it a leather handle to make it easier to hold and it looks a little nicer too adding the extra details in.

A leather handle? Now that must look even more amazing in real life than on the photo...

Its pretty nice to look at I admit. I don't think the photos do it justice, but I still wanted to share my keyblade with the world.

Glad you like it. I want to say its about 37 inches, but I honestly don't remember the exact measurements. I used a paper template to get the pieces right and judging by the game version, mine might be thicker.

Awsome work there. How did you make the keychain?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

globalionGrid In reply to RoxasTsuna [2011-09-24 14:58:13 +0000 UTC]

The metal chain was actually wire that my dad bent and soldered the ends of the wire to create the individual links. The fob piece at the end is just a carved out piece of plywood that I painted silver and then glued on the green gems to each side after.

Very cool! What type of paint did you use for this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

globalionGrid In reply to ClaudiaSutton [2011-03-20 02:27:55 +0000 UTC]

Primer on the bottom.
Then sprayed it with Flat Black Krylon spray paint.
Then taped off areas and used Krylon gold metallic spray paint.

Turned out really nice.

Awesome! Did the tape work really good, or did you have to go in and fix some areas?
Thanks for answering all of my questions. I really enjoy learning about this stuff!

It helped out a lot, and with a little newspaper for the big areas, I got it done and it will be going with me in a couple weeks to Detour. The next one I'm doing is a little trickier.
