Some fan art of the latest Sonic Universe arc "Spark of Life"!
For those who haven't been following the latest issues, we delve into Nicole's backstory and her first encounter with a young Princess Sally. It's turning out to be one of the most interesting Sonic Universe stories to date, and I've written two reviews about the progress so far. Now Sally has entered the digital world to try and rescue Nicole from the malevolent virus Phage. Will she be able to help her friend in time before the Dark Gaia monsters take over? I guess we'll have to wait and see in the next issue....

Oh baby, where do I begin? Excellent piece of work as per usual, Glitch. The coloration and gradients maintain that rare sense of vibrancy and softness throughout the picture, and the message it's trying to get across is staggering in terms of impact.
You can literally taste the varying emotions - Sally and Nicole's sense of frustration, Phage's steadily-overwhelming malice, Ellidy's conflicting feelings of hope and despair, Big's annoyance at how resilient those Dark Gaia buggers can be once they sense prey and out giant friend's duress wordlessly urging the others to hurry up (SHE CAN'T TAKE MUCH MORE CAPTAIN!!) and defeat Phage, not to mention Tails' explosive expression of his fear for loss (both for Sally and Nicole's lives, and a more primal sense for his and the others' own safety, considering their... situation.
I guess the only real criticism is Ellidy's muzzle - it looks like his upper jaw is razor thin, or that his teeth are almost right under his eyes - his right cheek tuft makes it almost masked, but it just feels awkward to me.
Also the main screen's LED glow gradient looks a bit odd (at least to me) - the transition from salmon pink to bluish-gray feels a bit lacking in shifting colors. Then again, it IS hard to transition a red derivative to a blue one without inching towards purple hues.
Anyway, this is a truly superb piece with incredible feeling and the sort of theatrical sense of real time you'd see in an animated work. Congrats!

Thanks for another thoughtful critique! Ellidy's face was awkward to draw considering it's from the back and it's only my first attempt. I'll probably do better if I get another chance from a better angle.

I do apologize if this is not the most in depth critique, for this is my first critique ever. Just my first sentence says a lot about your artwork. You inspired me to write a paragraph outside of school. Bravo my friend.
The Archie comics have yet to show us what is happening outside with the rest of the gang. As far as we know, Sally jumped into the digital world preparing to fight off Phage. What I love about this piece is that is shows what YOU believe could be happening outside of the digital world when the previous comic ended.
Your art style blends in perfectly with the scenario the freedom fighters and co. are in. The way how you depicted Sally's hair flowing through the air, the light bouncing off of multiple light sources, the expressions on each characters face are all super impressive to me. All of these factors are massively impressive.
It's been an honor to write a critique for you! I can't wait to see more of your art soon!

I never really bought into that whole rumour of SallyXNicole. I think it was just Ian Flynn blowing smoke, and ultimately it didn't amount to anything.

Disappointing issue, great artwork! You really do capture the desperation, sorrow, anger and fear in your pictures which I think is missing from the comics. We can't always be brave. I like seeing characters act realistically to their current predicament. I hope one day you do a colouring tutorial, would be great to see how piece these together.

Ehhh, I think I worked on this for about four days. The playback logs 40000 strokes, and I average 10000 strokes a day. I know some pros who could paint this in a few hours, and it kills me that I can't work any faster.

Hey does anyone else think of slenderman when you look at phage?
1she towers over Nicole and Sally and is super tall just like slendy
2 has nasty darkness tentacles just like slenderman
3 seems to induce victims w/ intense fear so as render them incapable of running away JUST LIKE SLENDERMAN!
