"Abigail found herself staring down at the nearly-hairless creature, unable to keep herself from gawking. She watched as it rolled about in the snow, tongue lolling out of its mouth, eyes shut tight as it writhed around. Particles of cold snow flew everywhere and Abby often needed to raise her wing to keep herself dry. She sat on a pile of gems and treasures as she observed the beast; she knew that it was a her, and her name was, "Scrap." They together had amassed a considerable bounty. Brown tufts of dried grass protruded through the thick and unyielding ice, long since browned by the loss of the summer sun.

It was difficult to stop the disdain from leaking into her gaze as she guarded her small hoard of wonders from the flailing limbs of the hound. Abby grimaced as a clump of crystal and frost rocketed towards her, gritting her teeth as the heavy wetness rolled off her feathers. The strands of dried hay nearly crumbled to dust between her jaws. Abigail didn't know what to make of this naked, wriggling mass. All she could do was maintain a healthy distance between it and the goodies that she had uncovered.

Abigail knew only one thing for certain: Scrap was completely mad."
