In the end the NW concerti in Milan was real fun! We could shoot only 2 songs (Amaranth & Bye bye beautiful), no pyros unfortunately 
(I still need a good zoom lens, damn it)

Really? Thank you! I compared them to your pics and I felt so ashamed... I want to shoot as much as I can to learn how to get real concert pics, where you can get the atmosphere and the music just looking at it (I'm a musician myself after all

Hmmm... shoot as many gigs as you can. Take the dirty, badly lit ones, that's the best school. Shows like Nightwish will be a piece of cake after shooting a couple small bands in candlelight. And another thing... always think of the light when you're shooting and look for the rythm in what the band is doing. If the vocalist throws his hands up at the chorus and you missed it, there is a big chance he'll do it again when the second chorus starts

That's true: some weeks ago (I had my camera since a couple of days) I shot some very low-light jazz gigs. That definitely teached me something. And yeah, the ability to catch the right moment is the thing I need to improve, sometimes I step back instead of grabbing it.
