Well if my curtains were consumed by the darkness I'd probably cry too.

Actually upon closer inspection on the sketch I think it was always meant to be darkness and I just mistook them for something else entirely.

I do like the detail of her being covered by a blanket if the oversized length and how it wraps around her arms is to be believed. And the stripy socks are nothing short of adorable. It all brings to mind a homely longing for comfort which I think would tug at the heartstrings of anybody who's felt a little homesick at one point or another.

Or maybe her curtains really have been consumed by darkness and she weeps for the loss of her window decor knowing that when the sun rises there will be nothing to stop the rays of sunshine beaming onto her face and slightly annoying her when she wakes up.

A true terror for anybody who loves to sleep in.
