Self portrait, A4, Pencil (HB,B, 2B) approx 16hrs totally unedited (all i did was resize and add a plain black border)I' thinking of making this pic one of a series of deviations called the "Why the hell haven't you been on DA for so long" series XD
This is one of the items I'll be putting in my college portfolio, a full realistic pencil sketch of myself (im busy with another, i need 2) I finished it recently and am kinda happy wit it so i decided i simply had to show you all and get you opinions! BUT none of this "she's my friend so I'll be nice" stuff :stop: don't even think of doin that! I need your brutally honest opinion! Tear me apart and try make me cry if you don't like it coz this could be one of the deciding factors as to whether or not i get college entrance
there are quite a few other pics that I've done but due to me bein HIGHLY paranoid XD I won't be submitting them until I hav handed in my portfolio and know my results =^-^=
at least you have a brand new touched up version of my fursona to look forward to
coming soon!! believe me, i have definitely improved since last time i submitted work

yeah at first i thought it was a photo.. very nice technique...im impressed. human portraits are very hard and self portraits are a nightmare.. i know, i have had to do a few myself.. what type of collage and course do you want to do.. cause to be honest its not just about your drawing skill its also your composition, layout and media. like say if I wanted to get into a life drawing class i would draw myself or someone at an angle and looking away from the perspective or the "camera". that makes it more life like . closed eye shots arent always the best to impress people (lecturers). capturing someones mood/personality in a drawing is always gonna impress everyone. i felt i had to be the only critical one out of the lot... sorry but keep up the good work you hav e some major talent..

well, i enrolled for a multimedia/ graphic design class (I've already been to the interview and am waiting for my results

lol so you want to become a graphic designer/multimedia designer... I'm doing my diploma of Graphic design at the moment, i think you might of already figured that out lol... the uni courses in australia are not really benificial so i went to a "lesser education facility" aka Tafe (just not as expensive as uni and you pay up front in this one).
anyway been studying it for almost three years now and when i finally finish my diploma ill only have one more year to go. YAY!
I'm glad you liked my crit... i thought you were going to start calling me names and abuse me for what i said and this is really impressive.
if you are having second thoughts about the course or dont really want to do it then i suggest you dont do it... cause the course will not be as easy as you think or as your school might of led on... it will eat up more of your social life, take up all of your time, you will most likely realise who are your real friends (and loose some) and you will grow up around the occupation, not to mention give up most of your other hobbies. like i have and the rest of my class mates.
I think you need to fully understand what you have applied for because if you aren't happy doing it or about it then you will be miserable...
if you are questioning your decission now then i suggest what i told some of my other class mates and friends to do.. take the next year off and got work at a dead end job for a year such as; a cafe', supermarket, retail store or as a messenger for a company. because once you understand what it is like to work full 5-6 days a week doing the same thing over and over again you will apreciate deciding your career and what you really want to do. and it will also help with saving up money.
ive had class mates who have gone into the course not really confident about their decission and after my advice they went to full work for a year. when i got back in touch with them their perespectives had all changed and so had their career choices like nurse or lawyer and some just went back to the same course confident in what they are now doing.
I've had to give up alot for this course and have lost most of my friends outside of tafe because of it. I've had to make do with my class mates and aqueintences at tafe. and ive given up my hobbies like sports, singing, music, movies late night boozing going to the beach and stuff so now i get little exercise and the only things i pretty much talk about now are about the course..
i dont want to scare you. i think you will do amazing work as a graphic designer/multimedia designer, but i just got a feeling that you might need to hear this speech.
lol i just realised ive given you a really big boring lecture lol... sorry anyway cant wait to see more designs and drawings put up. k till then
