It helps that I have a lot of reference materials (books and clippings from magazines). Oh, and this REALLY cool poseable horse (you know like an art store mannequin?) Came free with some kit - love it!

Reference is always great, but try not to go overboard or you'll end up like me. I have WAY too many clippings (but you can never have too many books!). I actually need to pare down my collection - I have a filing cabinet with all the clippings sorted by subject. 4 drawers' worth...
