Watercolour over an ink drawing.Sometimes I like to go back and revisit old paintings of mine (usually when I can't think of anything new to paint)
I first painted this one six years ago when I still painted everything digitally:

I used an awesome reference photo from gaothaire

I never used to use references but these days I feel that using them definitely makes a big difference. I still prefer working without references but I just know that the outcome won't look as good.
I'm not sure if I actually like this new version much better than the old one. They both have their merits. So much for improvement...

Very elegant. The old one was nice, this one is is almost perfect. Balanced composition, lovely watercolour textures, subtle colours and the creature is just so pretty! Love it!

They are both so different but both so beautiful. Great job. Not many can do both digital and traditional mediums, it's usually one or the other.

Yes, both versions are absolutely amazing... and really pretty different! I cannot say which is better...
