I have weakness for liking these sort of paintings. A lost temple with a lonely tree. It places itself in one's emotions in many sorts of ways. It can being lost, lonely, foreboding, even a sense of adventure on the other end of the spectrum. With a ray of sunlight coming over the mountain as a ray of hope shining on the tree.

Beautiful choice of colors. I like the light showing through the peaks on the left highlighting the tree. It gives me a very serene feeling. Knowing the Hobbit inspired you for this makes me want to see it more.

You know what this reminds me of? One of the King's Quest games. I forgot which one, but I think it was King's Quest 6. It had this area where there was minotaur's labyrinth there. It's more "grand", thou.

Yeah man, its great. Thanks, i used photoshop cs 4. 90% is painted with a chalky hard brush and a soft airbrush. And a few finishing touches with a speckled brush (for particles) and a crazy textured for the stone.

I love how the lighting makes the tree look like important. I haven't watched the hobbit yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
