Well...I've spent a lot of time on the SBB and also on the BOB (Berner Oberland Bahn). It's really hard to do better than living in Switzerland, as you know far better than I! And thanks for looking!

um gottes willen NEEIIIIINNNN!! das kann man ja aber auch nicht lernen muss auch nicht sein *ggg* ich bin froh, wenn ich die schwaben einigermaßen verstehe (in stuttgart geht's ja gut, aber sobald man ein wenig außerhalb ist... o-oh!) ich finde es hier wirklich sehr schön, aber die sprache ist schon etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig *lol* ich spreche normalerweise "hochdeutsch" mit leicht fränkischem touch ^^ fränkisch ist übrigens auch nicht besser als schwäbisch *lach* aber ich habe gelesen, dass du leute in münchen hast! da isses auch sehr schön. und bayrisch finde ich einen sehr sympathischen dialekt da kann ich dann immer nicht anders und gewöhne mir das schnell an, wenn ich mal dort bin.

Frueher habe ich in Bayern studiert. Also...spreche ich auch ein bissle Bayrisch. Kennst du Prien am Chiemsee? Dort habe ich ein paar Monaten verbracht. Letzt August habe ich wieder Prien besichtigt. Es bleibt wie immer. I love Bavaria, and also Austria. I live in Salzburg for a time, and I still feel very much at home there. Danke dass du Deutsch schreibst, denn es macht eine gute Uebung fuer mich!

Most of the travel happens because of my work. I am a professor, and I give lectures or seminars in many different countries. But I also usually take a few extra days to look around and play with the camera. Anstelle des Neides sollst du einen Plan machen! Grün ist vermutlich nicht die rechte Farbe für dich.

Oh I wish...! Do you know that one of our mutual colleagues at LL has property near there? It's true...I even saw the papers because she recently got a missive from the Swiss government about the property, it was auf Deutsch, so I got to be the translator.

Yep, I completely agree. Many US universities have campuses in Europe. This past May, I met an American in Florence who had lived there for over 20 years while running a program for a major US university. So...I nominate Florence. But Interlaken would work for me, too!

i used to go in the south east of france, in "alpes maritimes" but not in the coast but in old villages [link] more far than sea. I used to go also in the island of ré, in the west of france [link] in this place, there is a lot of birds to see!
