A time ago (arround 2008 or so) I done a lot of pics related to an particular culture I love: The Selk'nam, also known as the Ona... they lived in the Patagonian region of southern Chile and Argentina including the Tierra del Fuego islands. Their world is very spirit based... they have their own version of how day and night works or why the sun is preceded by the moon:

Kran & kra: Is the Selknam name for the Sun and the moon.

On the days when there were the howenh (ancestors), the sun, moon, rivers and the stars were passing by the world, Women dominated the men telling them what to do, subordinating them and subjecting them to their whims, they dutifully kept the hut, worked leather, caring for children and hunted. The decisions were made by women without having them say, however, men were strong and able to revolt, which led them to find a way to maintain this situation. These included that the woman moon under her direction:

She invented a secret game that began with the construction of a remote hut where they stayed at home most of the time and which was prohibited from entering the men. In these meetings, women were starting to young adulthood, times when the body is painted with special designs, covered his face with masks of painted bark and out of the hut hopping to see that men from afar. I was led to believe that these beings descended from heaven. The work of these spirits was harshly punish those who opposed the orders of women.

One day Kran (man sun), husband of Kra (luna women), passed near the large riverside hut and saw two young women who wash the paint is fun. Upon seeing this realized the deception: the spirits were not beings from another world, but genuine masked women, furious returned to camp and told the others apparently. Insurance fraud, the men organized and led to the large hut, in front of her women descended on creating a great slaughter. Just let the girls alive for his young age that still did not know the secret.

Since then, the Sun (kran) chases the moon (Kra) to get revenge on his cheating, but she always runs away after the sun appears into the horizon. Sometimes they meet in the sky and moon try to go unnoticed, but sometimes, they engage in a battle, knowed by us as eclipse, that leaves our land and his men without light.
