For all the meme comments about Marnie being subjected to Rule 34, I've found that things have been surprisingly tame in that regard here on DeviantArt... at least thus far. I remain certain that I will, inevitably, stumble across an image of Marnie with her tits blown out to an absolutely absurd degree sooner or later. It is the nature of this website, after all.

No, it really isn't. I'll be blunt here that Pokemon has never had an actual Goth character yet. A Goth is someone who listens to Goth music and even then, the show has never even displayed Goth music in the games. Pokemon has had plenty of alternative characters though (Loved Roxy). It's a long explanation but if you're open to learning a bit about Goth, I can give a tad more info if you'd like.

Well one. I don't think you gotta play goth music to be a goth. If you call yourself goth but don't strictly listen to goth music I don't think it'll the take the status away. But that's my opinion

When I said "A Goth listens to Goth music", I wasn't saying that goths only listen to Goth music. You can (and should) listen to all kinds of music so you don't get bored of a genre because if you listen to one genre for too long with no break, you can become sick of it. But in order to be a goth, you need to have likeness or enjoyment for Goth music among your music collection. If that makes sense? And with this character Marnie, I'm pretty confident in saying that she isn't a Goth, just an alternative girl because Pokemon has never once showed homage to Goth music. It has done Gothic Lolita (Marley & the Gothorita line) but Gothic Lolita is not Goth, it's part of the Lolita fashion style which has no ties to Goth.

Mmm I wouldn't call platform boots like that a Goth staple. Actual Goth fashion takes inspiration from Goth music, the boot of choice would actually be something called Winklepickers. I mean at the end of the day, Goths don't look the same but there are certain staples that do come from Goth music that influences the optional style just like any other music-based subcultures.
Punk = Mohawks, Tartan, Combat Boots, Spiked chokers.
Emo = The Side swept bangs, skinny jeans, Converse
Hippie/Psychedelic = Tye Dye, Bell Bottoms, Henna Tattoos
Goth = Teased Hair, Fishnets / Lace, Ankhs, Winklepicker boots, Distinct makeup (usually influenced by Siouxsie Sioux)
Industrial = Platform Stompy Boots, PVC material, Cargo Pants/Shorts, Cyber Dreads.
Hip Hop = Baggy Clothing, Sagging Pants, Gold Chains, Oversized Sneakers
And it kinda goes on and on lol
