very nice drawing! More fiercesome than his real Mesopotamian self, that's for sure! The original Canaan version he just looks like a dude with a beard, and horned helmet, Baal Hadad, Zeus in the Greek. He looks sorta stupid originally.

Master Beelzebub is very handsome. Oh and he's the half brother of Father Satan by the way.

I learned from him in a graphic novel I used to read, where he was also called the Lord of Flies and was known under three names in it, "Baal, Bahaal, Belial."

The lord of flies is often believed to be the same as the "devil" though truth be told the Judeo/Christian mythology demonized every pagan diety, either literally or figuritively

If I remember correctly, Lucifer (Satan) was the Archangel of Light. His beauty was unrivaled; he had lustrous tanned skin that shone like polished brass and every joint in his body was like a small, glistening gem.
Of course, there's no saying what happened to his form when he was cast from Heaven.

Beelzebub, also known as Baalzebub (among many, many other spellings all related to the Phoenician god Ba'al), was said to hold the title of Satan before Lucifer so you are not incorrect in your perception of him as the devil.

The truth is that a picture is great, but the truth is I feel a bit outdated when compared to your other pictures, you should make a new version of this drawing and a little bigger to be better. I tell this only as constructive criticism is not something you have to feel bad. Well that's all I have to comment for now until then.

In the Bible I remember Baal, Dagon and Astaroth were some of the gods specifically mentioned (along with Moloch) for their brutality, and immorality. I remember Astaroth was a female canaanite deity for fertality, dagon was a philistan (can't spell) deity having to do with water (see the book of Jonah). Just an fyi but still I keep thinking of these three as fire, water and wind elementals... I wonder why (might be I read too much of that stuff).

Yes, that's right! Paradise Lost suggests that many of the old pagan gods were actually powerful demons on power trips. If I remember what I've read, the Hebrews objected to Baal because Baal translates to "Lord." They didn't like the idea of a Canaanite god having the same name as their God, so they renamed him Beelzebub, "Lord of the Flies," as satire. This is why Beelzebub is usually associated with refuse and disgusting things.
Sorry, but your comment got me going!

Baal is actually Beelzebub. I know it can be hard to keep up with mythologies especially religious based ones. However, it is also said in the authors description of his piece that they are the same being.
So he most likely will not make "another Beezlebub".
I always found that name to be funny to say.

Baal means "lord"
Just a interesting note.
This picture is a very extreme example of a "red devil".

I'm an Atheist but when people describe the Devil I always pictured him as a guy in a strange black tux decorated with creepy designs, long black hair and oddly beautiful facial features. Also as someone very very very very Prideful and with the universes biggest Ego and always drinking a strange red fluid from a gold and obsidian goblet that you know isn't wine and think it's blood but you are too busy with a fire poker up your ass to really care what it is. Or maybe he's a Cthulhu like thing with horns that looks like somethings straight out of an H. P. Lovecraft book after one too many Jager Bombs... Yeah that'd be cool. That bit aside I think this picture is one of the creepyest things I've ever seen(In a good way) and hope I never see anything like it in real life or I may just have to...Do...something...Ok I don't know what I'd do but I think you get the point, if you do tell me cause I don't.

Also I was not as I nomally am when I was looking at this picture due to. I don't really remember I just know it was fun for a while. I thing I got confused by the "in some way, the devil" part. Word of advice don't eat something your friend gives you then look up monsters on DeviantART, and don't especcially look up the word Harlequin on Google Images.

Oh, I know of Beelzebub but I didn't know of any other names he has, strange I didn't know that considering almost every supernatural thing in existance has more then 1 name.
