9x12 graphite on rough arches paperI've been getting super burned out by projects lately (which is a bad thing because I need the money) and wanted to draw something for me (or the store, since I'm running out of art to sell. Good problem to have right?) I finally got around to playing with this beautiful box of fancy pencils my older sister gave me and I gotta say these things are wonderful. 10h all the way to 10b and I wanted to make sure I used all of them at least once. A part of me feels like it needs more but at the same time I fear if I did anything else to it I'd kill it, you know? She's super dark and the only thing pulling her out of all of it is her hair and lack of detail below the bust. I debated blending to get rid of the visible tooth from the paper but...you know I kinda like it!
All in all it was really fun to just be minimal in regards to material and just have fun. I will definitely be doing this again

This looks wonderful, I love the detailof her face and the shading.
but you are right - it turned out a little too dark.
Maybe you could save it by a more precise light source - I guess the light comes from the left mainly, but it's not very strong.
Maybe stronger shadows/more contrast would help, because then you could at least put slight shadows in her white dress and her white hair too, so they both get more depth/structure.
