"Americana" is a sort-of Latin word used to describe our culture, heritage; this picture shows the amber waves of grain, purple mountains' majesty, and a car! What could be more American than that?

How can I not favourite such originality. You keep having to look at the picture. Strangely, I still keep my eyes away from the sun in this pic, force of habit maybe but an indication of the amazing effectiveness of your use of light. Congratulations! [ps maybe a SMALL chance for a wildlife refuge inside the car - fewer pesticides - until it is towed in the name of tidying up the countryside - assuming it is not an organic field]. I'll put the light reflected from the front wheel arches, bonnet,etc., down to a powerful photoflash?

Well as it's a photo manipulation and it was up to me to sort out the lighting.. well I'm not very good when it comes to shadows and light so I should probably fix this when I have time

Sorry! I felt I could mention this tiny detail because the whole pic was so good. It wasn't meant as a serious criticism at all just as a minor point of interest! To me it is great just as it is! You are very good at shadows and light.

Well I can see from all the comments that you are giving a lot of people an awful lot of pleasure by your work, so keep it up. I can only dream of achieving such a standard, but this week I received a present, my first tablet (Intuos 5 medium). I find it almost impossible with a mouse. Some people do well with one and I have tried but can't. I hope and expect to improve with the tablet. I've got Photoshop CS4 (need to improve my skills with this) and Sai. You're right about light being difficult as you have to think in 3 dimensions on a 2 dimensional surface. It's tricky. As a beginner, I'm about to try and learn these skills. Hey, stop exaggerating about your light and shadow skills. You're a great artist
