Trying to do something with what I mentioned on my journal. Evoke emotion. I sketched something similar to a sketch I did of a girl and swan...but decided why not do "Last Unicorn" instead XD I'm trying not to think too much of the whole technical aspect of it...just getting an idea across with simple drawing.Anyways, I'm hoping a lot of you guys watched it when you were little? I remembered it was sometime in Kindergarten...there were a lot of adult theme that was introduced to me haha (ex: boob tree). But I remember loving how pretty the Unicorn was. So graceful. But the prince was ugly haha. My sisters and I would go "Ew, she shouldn't get with him. He's ugly!" haha. Watching it back again for reference, there are some lovely background designs.
(should go off and study for japanese final!!!)

This movie moved me deeply as a child and I have since found Β a copy of the book by Peter Beasley. This art is just a pleasure to look at.

Yea I watched it too, was also introduced to a lot of things by that movie.
For example, I have had a lifelong fear because of the Harpy,
and when something is going on that is really scary, the Harpy's theme song plays in my head.
I watched it when I got a little older and caught all the crazy things I missed as a kid.

Wow, BEAUTIFUL.Β Although the animation company was Japanese, right?Β It's like an American anime, if such a thing can be said to exist...Β Loved it when I was little.Β Watch it again as an adult - there's a lot of symbolism I missed entirely, as a kid, or barely got, and the book is AMAZING.

yup the animation was done in japan but produced by america. lots of studios in the 80s-90s had animation/cartoon like Batman:TAS outsourced animation to japan.

Just saw the movie again and gosh, for a moment it was as if nothing had changed since back then when I saw it as a kid. You framed the spirit of it very well. Love it.

I will never forget how much this movie meant to me as a child. I bet I've watched it over 100 times. It even stays mostly true to the book. The music in that film gives me nostalgic chills. It's beautiful, thank you.
