My attempt at creating a fairly realistic-looking portrait of beloved Merida from Brave.

I drew it all out in pencil first, scanned it into Paint.NET, shifted some features slightly to make them more realistic, added in the colors, made a second lineart, touched up the colors, added shadows, saved a backup, smoothened everything and applied a warmth effect to the overall image. You can download the Paint.NET layered file with and without the blur. The warm effect isn't in the layers, though.

This is my third attempt at realistic-ifying a fictional animated character, the first one being Arrietty [link] , and the second being San [link] .

Verdict? I'm getting better, I think. Anyone care to guess what references I used/who I used as reference?
