Description
Chiasects commonly eat soil and decomposing things (bugs, plants, some larger animals), but they can survive for months without food as long as they drink a lot of water. They like to live in damp places.
None have been known to have a higher level of thinking or intelligence.

They rub seeds into their skin to grow moss, grass, clovers, or other small plants as camouflage and to provide them with energy from photosynthesis. The plants they grow must have fibrous root systems. If the plant has a tap root, it could end up killing the bug as it grows. The fibrous root systems act as a circulatory system for these bugs. When a chiasect has no seeds to plant, it will die from malnutrition in a short number of weeks.
