Description This is an oldie, from about the same time as I did my Roman Soldier pic a few years ago. I decided not to go with this design for the character, mostly because the segmentata armor isn't worn by high ranking officers. I'll be damned if it doesn't look cool, though.

good work, he's also very "realistic": wide and short figure, strong but not "classically" proportioned, wich is a common mistake due to the statues... As said in a italian musical "the 7 kings of Rome", "the roman man was a kind of dark-short-bear-like... strong! But ugly!" Yours is sort of good-looking, but it's good
Only thing... er... are you sure about the boots? With that kind of armor would be better a pair of caligae instead?

A pair of caligae would definitely be more appropriate for the armor. I was going for a slightly "man out of time"-looking design, because the character is supposed to be immortal, so the boots were supposed to make him look like he didn't quite belong. Then, I decided that the story should be set in 408, so the entire design was scrapped

eheh, you welcome. You know, I'm Italian, so I know about romans a bit... XD
Anyway, for an out-of-time character the boots are fine, and maybe would be fine also for a late-empire character (they're rough enough to suit good on a northern-empire soldier)... 't was just a suggestion

Hey, I love suggestions! I took some Latin in high school, and a few Roman and Greek history classes in college, but I'm no expert by any means. Any feedback you have to give is greatly appreciated.
