Description
A concept for Rosalina’s parents and brother,since they’re mentioned in her storybook. I want to make something coherent with the book but also with my own theories about Rosalina, mainly her being a distant relative of Peach’s. I know they’re not closely related or probably not related at all in canon,but they’re too similar not to be. Their face shape is pretty much identical, and they share a similar hair and skin color. ･̑◡･̑

Many think Rosalina is not a princess, but I think she is. Or, better, a fallen princess in her actual state. :^) Her storybook has her wearing a crown even as a child,so it’s kind of obvious she’s royalty.
According to my theory, she was born centuries before Peach’s birth as the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, which is hinted to be her home planet by both the book and the fact that she visited it during the Star Festival. ˘⌣˘ I drew what she would have become if she stayed home, with a princess dress more similar to Peach’s and a tied up hairdo referencing her concept design.

I also drew what her parents and brother would look like in my opinion. ╹◡╹ Her father, King Lactarius, is the direct descendant of the Toadstool line, and is an astronomer devout to Star Spirits, especially after having married the beautiful lady Irina, whom he considered a blessing from the stars. After becoming queen, Irina will be known as Peace by her subjects. They gave then birth to Princess Rosalina and then Prince Yuri. Some years after, Queen Peace passed away and you know what happened with Rosalina shortly after.
The role of heir to the throne passed to Yuri, who then gave birth to the dynasty from whom Princess Peach descends.

Of course,the resemblance between Peace and Peach is more than intentional. The storybook shows Rosalina’s mother as a Peach-like figure with a long sky blue dress. ´︶`

Side fun fact: I also like to think the Mushroom Kingdom has in rule that the heir to the throne should have a golden crown, and the younger siblings a silver one. Before taking off to space, Rosalina swapped her crown with her little brother’s while he was sleeping, as she knew she wouldn’t come back soon. That’s why she has a silver crown now.
