Yeah it just sort of came out that way.

That's fine. Do you use the backs of each page in your sketchbooks, if you don't mind me asking?

I wish I could use the backs but unfortunately the alcohol markers bleed through real bad. I since then bought a bleed proof sketchbook for the next one.

Ok. My advice is to use thick card stock paper and stick it in between each sheet.

I use a index card to stop the it from bleeding through to the next page. Itβs cool because all the bleed throughs from the 75 pages Iβve done now are all on the same card. Itβs become its own work of art.

I noticed that with my markers too. Unfortunately, most of my Ohuhu markers are dying.

Itβs a shame too because other than the fact they donβt last that long, Ohuhu markes are pretty good for the price. Iβve been using a grey scale set of Pandaflys for my book. They lasted about 40 pages before I had to get another set. Now Iβm 4 pages away from finishing and some of them in this set are drying up. The next book Iβm doing is in color. Iβve got a 72 set of Ohuhus waiting. So far all Iβve done is swatched them and did some color. Truthfully, I canβt wait to finish this book so I can go back to digital for a while. Despite the way my gallery looks, I primarily do digital art.

well, I'm sure your do great in both traditional and digitized art. As a suggestion, why not color your traditionally inked art work digitally every now and then?

That's the plan. Once I finish the book, I'm going back to digital for a while and I'll use some of these sketches as bases for some digital drawings. I'll even turn some of them into stickers and t-shirts for my redbubble. It needs some fresh content. Sales lately have been stale.Β

I wish you the best of luck. Are you going to scan your drawings and colorize them, or are you going to draw entirely digitally?

GaryGuidrozArts In reply to spongefox [2019-01-08 21:57:19 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! I'll probably scan them in and retrace over the lines so I can smooth them out and color them.

Ok. Now I'm wondering what tablet and programs you'll use.

GaryGuidrozArts In reply to spongefox [2019-01-08 22:22:05 +0000 UTC]
The tablet I use is a Wacom Cintiq Hybrid and the program I use is called ibis PaintX. I might use FireAlpaca if I have trouble transferring the scans to my tablet though.

Is it free?
Does it take up a lot of space on the hard drive?

They are both free and don't take up much space however (and I'm not 100% sure on this but) ibisPaintX is only and app for apple and android. I don't think you can get it as a desktop program. I use ibisPaintX mostly. It runs really smooth on my tablet and it has a huge amount of tools and brushes. Also it automatically creates a timelapse of your session. I posted some examples of the time lapses in a recent journal.

Time Lapse Videos! What is up my deviants! So this one is going to be short, sweet and to the point. Now that DA allows you to stash and post videos, I finally get to share these with you. I've gotten a few requests in the past to record my process so now here's you chance to see it. Unfortunately, I don't have videos for everything. My art program auto records your sessions but sometimes the videos fail. Its a problem with the app that tends to come and go. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy!
